posted a message on Sound effects from different games

The title speaks for itself: are we allowed to use sound effects from a different game? I mean, some sound effects, like the ones from Star Wars, are used in different games such as Star Wars: Battlefront and SWTOR but are we allowed to use those sound files in our own maps?

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "endless" abilities and inventories?

posted a message on SC2 Editor Tutorial Channel

    Hey everybody,

So I decided to make this thread on sc2mapster because of a recommendation from my (small) community, but also because I myself think it may help some of you guys who seek voiced video tutorials for the StarCraft II Editor. I'm no expert in the editor (and certainly not in programming), but I see myself as an intermediate-level mapmaker and thought I would let you know that I make tutorial videos on YouTube.

I'm looking for feedback on my channel, mostly to improve content, but I'd also like to hear if any of you are interested in a specific tutorial. A lot of my tutorials come from suggestions from my subscribers given that I'm not very good at thinking of tutorials myself lol.

Here's a small list of tutorials I'm planning to make:

    • A special "ultimate" ability, which I'm going to demonstrate with the stalker unit.
    • Leap Ability
    • UI re-arrangement

As you can see I'm quite out of ideas so any suggestions would be helpful. Feel free to tell me what you think.

    Thanks for your time.

That has to be something new Blizzard has done, because that never happened in my previous maps. :P

Edit: You were right. After testing with Normal game speed the value changed to those I typed in the editor.

No, that would be 0.56 shots per second if you did the math. And it's not only on Period for weapons, but also in the Speed for units and stuff. I just generally see the ^This field may be upgraded on so many different values and wondered why that was.

posted a message on "^This field may be upgraded"

This new "This field may be upgraded" thing confuses me, because my unit's weapon has another value ingame than what it has in the editor. However, the weapons fire rate does not seem to be affected by this, but it's still annoying. Does anyone know why these fields have been upgraded?

P.S. I changed my dependencies from "Swarm" to "Void" when the new expansion came out. Does that have something to do with it?

posted a message on playing sounds with cinematic mode

I know this is a 5 year old post, but anyway, I think I found a solution to this problem. Simply just change the sound's Group to Music and it should play in cinematics as well.

There was actually a kickstarter for the StarCraft Universe project about 1½ year ago:

But that's the only case I've seen.

posted a message on [SOLVED] "Invalid placed doodad"

I made a simple doodad with a model attached to an actor, and when I place it on the map it looks just fine, but when I edit something in the actor's properties and press OK I get a warning saying: "Warning: Invalid placed doodad 'name' at (12.747803,169.204346,7.505359). A placeholder model will be used." and the doodad replaces its model with a placeholder... This happens for every custom doodad I create.
