    Here is an update, animation is done, re-sculpting and re-texturing is done, I like it very much (if I may say so myself)

     

    I'm looking into some variations of the skin color, so it can also be used as a Merc.

    Also looking into adding some armor to have a difference between a unit and a merc.

     

    Probably going to add that scarf from Zul'jin, so it can also be used as a hero unit.

    posted a message on Wanting to get into Model Making, how should I start?

    Register yourself on the Autodesk website as a student so you can download anything you want from their site. NOTE, not for production ( company ) wise and profit.

     

    Note you must get 3D Studio Max 2011 from "somewhere else" cause it does not present itself anymore to be downloaded from the official site.

     

    The 3D Max key you get from any version will work in any version before.

     

    Get Mudbox, 3DS Max, for sculpting, modeling and retopology.

    Download the SC2 Art Tools (only working for 2011)

    Get a drawing program like PhotoShop

    Check the DOTA2 Workshop to learn to texture (on an easy an quick way) like they did in HotS

     

    Download my import scripts ( see my assets ) so you can import HotS, SC2 and War3-SC2 models into 3D Studio Max

    Check my tutorials to get 3D Studio Max ready to start modelling and animating

     

    I personally do not like Blender, it is very chaotic and does not have the necessary stable tools to do what Blizzard does.

    You don't have bones on your models, so it means  they are static models than?

    I've always attached the HitTestTight and HitTestFuzzy's to a bone and never had that issue.

    Also, to test if the naming is correct, you can go in the SC2ArtTools menu in MAx and select collapse helpers (or something) so these objects are changed to freezed blue wired boxes, than you know it (should) work(s)

    The Vol_Target and Vol_Shield are turned into freezed red wired boxes.

     

    And as djt312 states, that is the way to test them in the editor.

    When you animate the hex, change the emission rate, than it doesn look like it come out of the center, more like , it beams in from the center ;)

    Yeah probably :)

    For the troll trapper I was planning to add some shoulder armor, not sure yet, started with re-unwrapping the model and the sculpting of the hair...

    In the mean time I got invited by Warcraft AoA to assist them :)

    Animations and particles are done, up to some sculpting, if it doesn't turn out the way I want, I still may return using the originals from Zul'jin.

     

    Plannig is to have a team colored one, a dark troll, and some other variations for this model.

     

    I'll post a little update later this week when I have the time.

    Since all, but the textures, is me, i'll probably redo the textures completely so I have an "all mine" egotripping feeling when I release him and I can change whatever I want ;)

     

    Animations are  nearly done, need to add a 2nd death animation, than up to the particles!
