    ZealNaga, you have absolutely no ground to stand on and have no idea what you're talking about.
    Harsh? yes.

    Quote:

    Giving exclusive rights to Blizzard does not involve losing your rights of intellectual property entirely. That's precisely what I'm trying to tell you... It's not because the car you crashed with was a Volkswagen that you cannot sue the guy who crashed against your car. Volkswagen won't have a word to say in this... They have no influence in your decision to complain, it's completely legit. So, again, EULA and rights of intellectual property are not linked.

    Leasing a car and intellectual property are two completely different separate things. When I lease a car, the car is owned by Acura and I have the right to drive it. If damage is caused to the vehicle, you are by default to be liable. From there, (and depending on your state's no-fault/dual-fault/whatever-fault laws), either your insurance will pay, their insurance will pay, or if you don't have adequate coverage, YOU will pay.

    SC2 deals entirely with INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY. When you surrender your rights on a work, you do not have any recourse to get them back unless explicitly stated in a contract or agreed upon with the new owner. If a company hires a graphic artist for WoW, and he designs a bunch of "cool looking shit" he can't go back and claim it's his when it's property of Blizzard, because he did it while under their employ. He would be laughed out of court.

    This is the same situation. Regardless of whether it's right or wrong morally, you as an author have SURRENDERED ALL RIGHTS to your derivative work for SC2. You have no say whatsoever in how Blizzard uses, markets, distributes, or bans your map. You do not own it. You maintain it on behalf of Blizzard Entertainment as a free agent.

    If you want to make an ACCURATE comparison, then come back and post. If you have a LAW DEGREE, then come back and post.

    Oh and,

    Quote:

    All over the world there are copied movies music games software anything everything and you think someone care about "starcraft 2 maps" ? Maybe not so heavy but that is simple "piracy"

    Just because a theft is small doesn't mean it's not theft. Piracy is wrong, no matter how you look at it. If you think games/movies/whatever are overpriced/stupid/needs more bacon, then either a) admit you're stealing it because it's easy and you're unlikely to get caught, b) don't buy it, c) buy it anyways.

    That is all.

    (IANAL either, but I have not-so-common sense.)

    By default, copyright works do not default to any license at all. There is no "All rights reserved" license. All rights reserved is a phrase only that explicitly forbids modification and re-release rather than implicitly, either way it's illegal with the exception of the usage of fair use doctrines.

    Anything you make is not under a license unless you explicitly, as the copyright holder, authorize the use of a particular license.

    As you are not the copyright holder to anything you make in the Starcraft 2 Editor, you are unable to tell people that all rights are reserved, or that you will employ the creative commons license, or anything else.

    You are a maintainer and may make changes to the copyrighted work, but ultimately, Blizzard Entertainment owns the copyright rights. Hence why Blizzard can release "Blizzard DotA" today and not rename it from "DotA." The map was copyrighted to them all along.

    @GnaReffotsirk: Go

    The solution is simple, or at least in my case: All my maps have the All Rights Reserved policy. Which means people need my consent BEFORE doing anything with these maps. It is my right to ask them to stop sharing the files in which my maps are included, that's what the policies are for! It's a matter of intellectual property, if I ask them to stop sharing they have to do it. Going against my rights is not in their interest, they could get sued for that.

    Unfortunately you surrender all rights to your work by agreeing to the EULA in the Editor and creating the map in it. Therefore you have no right to claim that "all rights are reserved." Your map and every other map is made by you and you surrender all copyright rights to Activision Blizzard.

    You also seem to have a fundamental misunderstanding of how copyright law works. By default, as soon as I make something, it's copyright to me, and all rights are reserved to me. I don't need to say it, I don't need to include an EULA or anything. It's mine. Only by stating something to the effect of cancelling that right out will let anyone legally copy my work for anything but fair use exceptions.

    Yup, in C/Cxx this mechanism would just be comparing the memory address of the function. What Galaxy is doing is completely unrelated and very different.

    posted a message on Interesting Galaxy Bug

    This appears to reveal the stack space remaining for Galaxy's memory.
    To that, I give you...

    int libStack_SpaceRemaining = 0;
    bool libStack_Helper(int i)
    {
    	libStack_SpaceRemaining = i;
    	return true;
    }

    // Returns in bytes the free stack space remaining.
    int libStack_GetFreeStackSpace()
    {
    	if( libStack_Helper ) {
    	}

    	return libStack_SpaceRemaining;
    }

    Call "libStack_GetFreeStackSpace()" to find out how much space you have left in the stack, in bytes. :)
    Could be useful to some of these very large projects that think they're converging on that script limit.
    Doesn't reveal the heap space remaining, though.

    Also looks like for every level you go deeper into the call stack, you lose 28 bytes of the stack, excluding any parameters.

    posted a message on is there a restriction for the numbers of trigger?

    I'm going to answer the OP's question and only the OP's question as in the title.

    Quote:

    Is there a restriction for the number of triggers?

    Technically speaking, yes. There is a 2MB script limit, and each trigger will use about 4 bytes of that. That leaves you with more triggers than you could ever have a use for. (Yes, over 9000.)

    DO NOT CONFUSE THIS WITH THE SCRIPT FILE SIZE.

    It's not the Baltimore accent or anything that's confusing us. I live close to Baltimore.
    It's stuff like

    "YYYYYYY you guys think i'm so baddd at conveying my thoughts...?"

    Why on Earth would you write a Y 7 times in a row to mean "why" when the original is 3 letters, and the stupid internet shortcut is "y"?

    This is why no one can understand you. Elaborate your ideas clearly and use complete sentences and correct grammar. A few mistakes are in every post, but the meaning isn't lost because of them.
