    @peeeq: Go

We have standards in place to prevent bank files being casually modified. We will insist on the mapper using some of our established best practices and imbedded protocols to protect his .sc2bank files. Not overly concerned about the map creator bumping his own .sc2bank files but will make provisions to prevent such a thing as well.

posted a message on Efficiently Arranged Global Leaderboard Engine - EAGLE

The Efficiently Arranged Global Leaderboard Engine (EAGLE) is under development, aggressively.

EAGLE will run on your computer and read your bank files regularly, which will feed a global leaderboard. The plan is to tie all servers together and create leaderboards for each map that signs up for EAGLE. That means that Euro/SEA/NA servers c

EAGLE will fill the holes that Blizzard leaves behind in their custom map features. Map popularity lists will be based on player activity and frequency. Map makers that care enough about their maps to create an account with EAGLE will be among a more dedicated group of creators that clearly are invested in the development of their maps and their communities.

The player comes to the sc2eagle.com site and downloads the game client, once configured the client will transmit the players statistics directly to the website for real time statistics and achievements, THERE IS NO COST FOR THE EAGLE CLIENT.

Maps that have been EAGLE Authorized will automatically begin registering statistics. The player will be able to discover new maps as he regularly checks his rankings and achievements.

EAGLE will also generate custom map signatures that display voluntary options such as favorite maps, ranks in those maps, achievements from those maps. Ladder Signatures will also be available.

The following benefits are expected: Player Statistics on the Global Leaderboard Online Player Signature Generator .SC2Bank Recovery (if you ever lose your bank file, we got a copy) Map Statistics Such as Plays Per Hour, Time in Game, Etc. Map Forum with Donate Button For Mapmaker Optional Statistic Ban for Players who Cheat Bug Report System and Support Forum For Mapmaker User Profiles that include all statistics associated for that user Ladder Tournament Service for Custom Maps

    NOW!

What I need from you folks is a list of statistics/data you would like tracked, mind you it must be recordable in the .sc2bank file, eagle will not be reading SC2, just the bank files!

    Hero Kills/Wins/Losses/Items/Achiements/etc.

Tell us what you want, we want to make something that works, and we want to make something that sets things right in SC2 Custom Maps... Help us!

Your tower defense is amazing on WC3. This will easily be a top three td, I look forward to trying out as a tester if you are on NA.

It's still targeted for little girls. Watch the toy commercials and point out the teen boy holding and combing hair... they only exist amongst the trolls doing this ass backwards marketing. They did this shit at liquid recently again too. Here that Sixen, they didn't even bother to troll your place first!

Eul made dota, Icefrog was like the 4th modder of it in "All-stars" on tft, and his editing caused dota to be split into at least three major communities.

    Texans aren't European.

Do facts and questions make it seem European somehow?

3/20 of those questions had to do specifically with the editor. The rest are "who did this or that".

Can you do one specific to the editor, would be a great quiz.

Would love to actually avoid 3d models altogether for the portrait, but I understand the limitations.

That's the issue, we can't find a way for the map, not the player, to determine the portrait type.

I'm not sorry, I want to know the answer!

Removing the model file altogether leaves us with "nothing".

Setting the video settings is relative to the mappers in-game settings, not the map settings, so if a player has his settings on 3d the ui will portray the .m3 file there or nothing if the file is gone.

The editor requires an .m3 file and an image file, you cannot upload two image files either...

I just did hundreds of 2d portraits and would love to drive down to figure this out with some help from you kind folks :)

Can this be solved in triggers or data easier?

    Quote from Mozared: Go

I'm liking this! Newest terrain looks pretty cool. You have some interesting stuff going around. For the roads, I'd mainly say add rocks, plants, small foliage and some texture play. Do google image searches for "path", "barren path" and "country road" and see what comes up - plenty of hints as to what to fill the area up with.

Additionaly, I'd recommend letting the 'zones' go past their boundaries onto the road. What I mean by this is the following: take for example the dragon lair terrain (which I assume to be the 7th picture in your last post). Rather than making that end at it's boundaries, draw it on a little bit and add some more rocks and palm trees onto that road. Use the same textures to insinuate that these really are specific areas that somewhat overflow, and don't have humanly set up boundaries.

thanks for the ideas I think it will help the terrain paths alot
