Yeah, I think they did. One doodad in sc1 of the twilight tileset looks to be inspired by space jockeys, and after watching Prometheus, I guess we could say seems like the doodads there have the same style in mind.

I'm kinda thinking Xel'Nagan harvesters would be like automated extractors that the player would deploy on a mineral field. There will be limited numbers of them per a building that can cast them.

My thoughts are that, the townhall of Xel'Naga would be called a "Core". It can spawn two building types: an Assimilator Node, and a Collector Node. A Core can deploy 6 Extractors for free, but this ability for the core can only cast 6 and that's it.

Collector Nodes will be able to spawn 3 Extractors at cost. It must be cast on a mineral field. Each Extractor will have a lifespan, and will expire, by which time, the Collector Node will have one more ready to cast. Extractors will behave like automated extractors, and will immediately add minerals to the player's resources.

Assimilator Nodes are built on Vespene geysers, and will act as automated gas extractors.

Cores can also construct 'Weaver Drones', which will transform into Conductors, where Xel'Nagan buildings can be materialized.

These Conductors are pads laying on the ground, and can spawn basic structures.

Players can then upgrade their Cores, to a Beacon. Beacons can be upgraded to Spires. I already have an idea for Spires.

Tech research buildings can only be summoned once the player has Spires. Beacons can summon Constructor Ships, floating buildings that can spawn units.

The Core looks like a Ring layed flat horizontally, above ground, and has a ball in the middle.

Beacons have the ball opened up and laying on the ground. Particle effects would show a stream of light shooting up to the sky.

Spires would then materialize at the middle of the ring, and the townhall will be in it's full form.

Guys isn't the i7-4790k a better buy right now? I have this processor listed as best option right now, even for use with Zbrush.

edit: 6700k falls at the same price. NVM

    Proof of progress:

It's just a cinematic editor test for camera cuts, low poly model test.

I'm trying to see if low poly is enough for certain cinematics, and getting a feel of what the pipeline would be from Max to the editor.

Yeah. I've done some more revisions to this mission specifically, trying to tighten things up as the story is being made.

Thanks for the support, DS. I appreciate it a lot.

I didnt realize you were creating this Ghost. You might get inspiration to know I'm making a "Khaydarin Wars" storyline. A conflict between Xel'Naga and a rival race, almost demonic, similar to your designs.

if not, your work will live on, and not go to waste.

Update on the walker. I can't get it to feel right to me having it with the inverted arms and legs. This feels good though. But I don't know yet.

edit: This could just be a worker maybe?

    That would be nice Alex.

In the meantime, I've made this from the Xel'Naga temple (BW). It's a floating structure, much like that of the undead town hall.

I'm not sure if this is a central structure or just a research structure.

I'm thinking the energy lines would be animated, but I'll have to see how that can be done.

edit: I'm also looking at the Grey Goo Shroud faction, and human faction. Mixing both might be nice.

Thank you man. I really appreciate support and encouragement.

I'm trying to design Xel'Naga structures complete for base-buildings, so if you know anything about them, please throw them in here if you like.

Yeah, I feel the same way with sc2, and I thought it was a jumbled mess as well. That's what happens when you let too many people decide what goes into the story, I guess.

On the model, yeah, you are right. I wanted it to be different, here and there. Mix and match, like the head would look different when viewed from different angles.

I wanted it to look divine, but technological, ancient, but advanced. Something like that.

Same here. But when I saw the carving on the temple, I thought it was a crude representation of Xel'Naga. Much like how it depicted the protoss and Zerg. They were merely pictographs, like how cave drawings are.

As for Zeratul's reaction, I had these thoughts:

    1. He would have known what the Xel'Naga looked like, since he was old enough to have been in the Aeon of Strife.
    2. What he saw in the tank was not how the Xel'Naga looked like, but a deformity trying to look like Xel'Naga.

edit: But come to think of it now, duran never mentioned that the creature in that tank was Xel'Naga. He stated it was the culmination of an experiment that started a long time ago.

It never dawned on me that what he saw in that tank resebled a Xel'Naga, but rather a version of his, and whoever his master(s) was trying to accomplish.

Now it makes sense even more, after reading in the manual that the Xel'Naga had actually achieved their goals with the Zerg, before the Overmind destroyed them.

They watched the overmind take other species into its fold, and maybe that tells us what their purposes are for creating this purity of essence and form.

Currently, I've come to the thought that the Xel'Naga wanted all species to be one. In some strange way, achieve harmony or peace throughout the galaxy by putting all under one mind. Communism, in some sense, or the likes.

In contrast, Duran could want change in the same way, but all would be under this Master(s) he mentions.

Edit: I had just found this browsing now:
