I'm looking for a customized version of the Tauren Marine model. I'd normally try it myself with Blender, but I can't import it properly, and I don't know how to stitch the model bits together myself.
Here's a quick Photoshop to describe what I'd like:
1) Head replaced by a Marine helmet
2) Hooves replaced by Marine feet
3) Arms are not exposed like in Tauren model, but covered by the suit Disregard this, realized it could also be done with a texture edit.
4) Tail removed
If anyone is able to help, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Whoa, I hadn't logged on for a few weeks and I come to see that Mapster got an upgrade? Cool!
I like what I've seen so far! It's gonna take a while to get used to the new look, I'm just too used to Mapster being a dark site. :P
Just from a quick look around, two things came to my mind:
- Is there a way to search assets by category? For instance, searching only for model assets or AI assets, or searching for Protoss models, or Fantasy/Medieval models.
- I'm assuming following projects is similar to the old subscriptions - is there a daily/weekly digest for that, or is it 1 notification per update?
I'd also comment about PMs being wiped out, but I read the OP. Glad to hear all those conversations weren't discarded. :)
Either way, I'm very glad to see the site getting some updates! :) (rip kitchen spambots :P)
If you leave the "Ability Link" field blank, it checks for every ability. For example, that field's blank in the No Orders And No Move validator, I put it on a behavior to test, and that behavior was active only while the unit was standing still and not attacking, moving or using/channeling abilities.
Though, if you set the field's value to a specific ability, it will only check for that one ability, that's correct. :) Otherwise, leaving it blank will be a general check for any order the unit's given.
The "No Orders And No Move" validator is what you're looking for.
There's also "Caster Has No Orders", which is more or less the same, and "Target Has No Orders", which of course checks the target unit instead of the caster unit.
That's a busy schedule, heh. If I may ask, why not include your SC1 and WC3 playthroughs in the list here too, since you mention 'em in the video? I know this is a SC2 community, but it'd be nice to know what ya have in mind for those games too. :)
If you run out of SC2 coop to do, why not do some WC3? There's tons of coop maps for it, even a coop version of the campaign, or at least most of it if I remember correctly.
Imposter's idea sounds fun though. Considering maps & commanders are gonna be released over time, it would make for a sustainable series. :D
I've only made one map, and this is the process I used: Make a document file, create core trigger systems, make very basic terrain, make functional data-work, continue work on data & triggers, make first gameplay prototype, polish data & triggers, polish terrain, and lastly put final touches.
Of course, there were quite some flaws I made in my process (such as not thoroughly thinking some things in my documentation and many times deviating from it). I think my process would be much smoother now, after having finished my first semester in college. Learned more about software engineering, which can be applied here.
Though I don't think I'll be making any maps in the near future, so I probably won't be putting my new process to practice anytime soon. :P
Basically, you have:
1) Not Heroic & Not Ally -> Normal enemy units
2) Not (Not Heroic & Not Ally) -> translates to "Heroic & Ally" -> Heroic allied units
3) Not (Not (Not Heroic & Not Ally)) -> apply De Morgan (basically remove double negatives & flip "and"s & "or"s -> translates to "Not Heroic or Not Ally" -> Non-heroic allied units or any enemy unit
If I were to recommend another way of making that validator, why not "Enemy Units OR Non-Heroic Allied Units"? It's simpler.
Hey, thanks for playing! Glad you liked it, and sorry to hear about the lighting thing. I'll add a command that removes the day-night cycle in the next version.
I'm surprised you not only survived Toasty, but even beat it on your first try, heh. I also realized how powerful mass Stormbringers are. :P
Also, this isn't the first time I see people try to select their workers after the faction screen. I think I should make everything unselectable until the game starts, since workers automatically go for resources.
The Overmind you say? I sense a nostalgia faction, hehe. Looking forward to it, Fenix and Warfield the most, but Stettman and Hanson sounds quite...underwhelming. They haven't really been badass or major to the story. :P
Nice to see more people do let's plays and videos in general about SC2 mods, heh.
If you have the time, perhaps you can try out my map as well? It's called Orion: Ground Zero, it's a coop altered melee map with subfactions. Here's the US link: starcraft://map/1/235689

I'm interested in participating, looks like a fun initiative. :)

It would definitely be a massive asset to the community - one could learn tons just from studying it and seeing how you've done everything! :)

The "Medic - Heal" effect has a validator called "No Markers". Removing it will allow multiple Medics to heal one target.

Anyhow, thanks again for playing. :)
