posted a message on How does auto-cast work?

Im working on stimpack for marine. Ive flipped and flopped between offensive defensive and passive... for the "autocast aquire level" and Im piling on validators. so far ihave Taerget; is enemy, is visable, can attack... help? The range is set to 500 (why not?? lol) and for testing I have everything instantly upgraded.. im keeping the requirements. so, I upgrade everything and my marines just attack as they normally do. both types of Auto Cast are on.

What is the difference between Auto-cast and then Auto-cast on? what else can I do to make my marines stimpack themselves?

Got it.... a very usable validator is "EnemiesNearby". I set the range to 500. stats- both auto-casts on... Depending on the ability I also change the costs and max the units energy.

Will this prevent problems of localization if I were to get help from this guy again?

I just tested my map last night and had a tester find an error in the salvage command for zerg structures in that I had to set the prices to 500+ to make them cost anything. salvage "refund" returns the 500 so anyways, I found a solution for this afterwards but... this tester was a complete prick. He was nice asking how my map was coming then invites me to a party and doesnt even want to play it.. Seriously.. new thread for angery ignorant-to-the-sc2editor testers??

he salvaged a hatchery and acted real stupid in the beginning, "how do I get minerals"?-while massing lings.. way to make my map a joke bro.. "kill units to get resources" was in the loading screen and someone had just commented on how "cool it was to get paid to kill people". it just really irritated and the other details that bugged me dnt matter. The point is... both ends of the sc2 community can be pricks lol.. and blocking and ignoring is not empowering enough. AND I feel like I should share a thought I had posted in another thread... Localization errors are just another way of blizzard saying "fck the editor", why isnt there an action to fix this between/during map uploads? man o man new editors got it rough

Please have a look at my Lunar Axis of Chaos map.

Would love to have some unique qualities if you can provide, to make this map stand out to people... "I've never seen that before" is something I'd like to help make this map unforgettable.

I really hope this helps other people out. there are a lot of posts about localization. perhaps blizz should get on making a translator that activates upon uploading ALL maps.. just to be sure..

I ended up just going back two days and making up for my lost work... This is not to be minimized. It sucked all to hell... How could I prevent this?? The guy in my team is the cause of this error (i believe) and he won't be able to help if this error can't be prevented...

is there a condom for this kind of disease?

Why arent you on a team? Seems like someone with your knowledge should be quickly referenced, plus as you mentioned there are things that you don't know. If you were grouped with people who were anywhere near your skill level there is a better chance of them reaching solutions with you.

Unless you prefer the lone wolf thing then thats cool I guess.

I just had a run in with a guy who helped me. Put his name on my loading screen and now it's in gradients and I didn't save the original text. I want to delete him because he directly said that he didn't care about the localization error he passed to me. I've nver dealt with this kind of error before and least of all I'd expect a team member to play like a team player rather than "oops I effed up, well it's not my problem I didn't start the map"... He has lots of talent and for some reason he has a, "lol watch him try to get out of this one" attitude like I really need him. lol I DO! lol but there are other ways. Set my self back two days and now I'm slightly ahead again. Did what progress I made in two days, in 6 hours. :D.... :( sucked that I had to do it.. props to angry pro editors... dam predators.

I actually just put a point called it "center point".

last created unit attacks to center point

last created unit attacks to left bottom region (whatever the opposing region might be.)

    @Obatztrara: Go

That's not actually a lazy way to go if u have to apply the ground collision individually to all units that fly. I've looked on youtube and bnet, as well as tl for this one..

cmon mapster im betting on you... I've got no fly zone stamps lining the places i dont want them to go.. but for some reason, if the medic for example has a destination on the other side of the no fly area that I have created.. it will basically faceplant into the wall of no fly zones and kind of straff side to side... I've even had an overlord moonwalking lol..

I would like the area to be treated like a cliff... and the air units to be smart (no faceplants) like the ground units and actually go AROUND my no fly zone... I imagined placing a region with a no fly stamp but that doesnt fit into the area accurately enough anyway.

What do I do? What can i do?

posted a message on Venting on my frustration param/value/

I had to start over.. not all the way tho on a map that has been coming a long NICELY. My first map that I am determined to go all the way has its first set back that occured while i recieved some help from another player. I get it back and made a bunch of edits to realize that I had a localization error. No biggie I saw that it was common so I figured I would just solve it later... MADE LOTS OF PROGRESS.... to realize that it's too complicated to fix and I'm wasting time hoping that someone else could fix this for me.. so I jumped back by only 2 days. Just so happens that those two days were very productive and I am pissed! Its just challenging to me that I am going to push through and finish it. I have to it has come so far. I am capable of doing it but I just do not want to have to deal with it.

I don't know what I have to fix now. I just know that I get heated when I find something, start working on it, and I think of the other things that I have to fix.. things that I have already fixed and was glad that they were fixed. ah! lol plus it's hot in this room and my wife is cold and I cant turn the ac on or open the door. I feel like somethin is breathing on me its gross.. I'm mad. Just have to huff and puff and think of what to do next. again... grrr crap!

Why of all times when I get help does it do this... localization??? another word for "fck the editors" from blizzard.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass about it, but calling yourselves "pro" sounds very wrong to me... If you don't edit/build levels for a living, you're NOT a pro. I'm just stating the obvious here. You're more like "skilled amateurs", you make maps just for fun and I'm also pretty sure you don't master multiple level editors as pros have to. Who, among us all, already have 6+ months of experience in the video games industry? As I said earlier, besides one member here and myself, I don't know of any. Even pros make lots of mistakes, it's not like these kinds of jobs can be learned 100% by the book.

As far as I can tell, the guys treating others like garbage are just egocentric bitches, and they are nowhere near pros themselves. Based on that, you shouldn't even listen to them. They won't give you any better advice than anyone, chances are they're just trying to impress. You can't change people, but at least you can leave stupid ones aside. I agree the search function in our forums could use some improvements, but still, when you learn how to use it properly 95% of your questions (as a newbie, that is) will find an answer or at least a clue here. That's all you'll need, the rest is up to your own creativity and dedication.

This sight is very awesome.. regarding the search box, I actually type in my name to find responses to my posts. Bnet does have an upper hand in accessability. No offense mapster. I made bold the things that I felt in your response. well said good sir!

posted a message on Syntax error in trigger editor :(

This syntax error disappeared after I simply named the trigger themselves, in the trigger list window/box usually located on the left side in the triggers editor window. Probably is not the correct solution but still stopped the error.
