I've spent a while in the forums and wiki trying to find out how to do this, but have had no luck.
I'd like to update Darglein's Multitasking Trainer map to HotS (and make a LotV version, eventually), but I'm not sure how to get started. I've read that some map creators will 'lock' their maps so they can't be edited, but I haven't even found info on how to tell if a map is locked.
If anyone can point me to where I can learn about editing an existing map, that'd be great.
Extra notes:
I assume updating a map like this from WoL to HotS isn't trivial, or someone would have done it already. Correct?
If I am able to update it, I'd keep the title the same; he deserves all the credit for an awesome tool and all his hard work.
you can't update the map on bnet since you are not the author.
if it is locked (if you can't open it with editor) you cannot edit it. with enough googling or searching here you should be able to open a protected map also, but all the code will be in pure galaxy, most likely no editor names for data entries in data.
Open the map editor and go into "file->open". Click on the battlenet tab and search for the map. If it comes up in the search it is unlocked and you can edit it. If it does not appear then it is locked.
Searching sometimes takes ages looking for maps so don't worry if you think the editor freezes for a minute or two.
