Hi, I’ve been trying to make a simplified Spear of Adun like functionality, but since Layout UI editing is a strange and unknown land for me I’ve been mostly copying and stripping from blizzards implementation..
..until attempting to create my “CommandTooltip” frame returned following: UI: Cannot create [MyCommandTooltip] because frames of type [CommandTooltip] are marked as Blizzard Only.
From what I understand that frame in SoA is the frame that makes button tooltips appear on the top of the screen rather than over usual Command Card (bottom right).
For test I tried using what SoA used - “SoACommandTooltip" in hopes that if it works I maybe could modify and use that instead, but game returned this: UI: Tooltip Frame [SoACommandTooltip] not found for [\Unnamed\Unnamed\GameUI\UIContainer\FullscreenUpperContainer\TriggerContainer\TriggerDialogFrameTemplate\UC_CCTemplate (<-Name of my Command Panel frame) \CommandButton00].
Specifying default command tooltip gives no errors but I’m not sure if I can use that for anything.
Anyone knows on how I should achieve the desired effect? =(
Anyone knows on how I should achieve the desired effect? =(
what is the desired effect? you dont need to specify a tooltip frame usually. just specify the anchor for the tooltip, hook it up in triggers and set tooltip of the button and then it will show up.
Desired effect is to relocate command card buttons tooltip from its default place (bottom right above default CC) to anywhere on the screen, but only for command cards that are created by triggers (Spear of Adun alike).
just specify the anchor for the tooltip, hook it up in triggers and set tooltip of the button and then it will show up.
Oh, I just noticed there is a tooltip type of dialog item, but how do I hook it up? I tried to
Dialog - Hook up an existing (Tooltip) called "CommandTooltip" in dialog item (CC)
but that caused "script couldn't compile" error.
So if I'd like this command tooltip to be anchored to Top Right, with (0,-270) offset, how would I go about it?
i just figured you are using a command card dialog item. so you wont be able to hook up the butttons and set the tooltip for the dialog items. anyway this might help you: http://www.sc2mapster.com/paste/7445/
i never made my own tooltip frame work, i just used the "set tooltip of dialog item" to add tooltips to custom elements.
Tho blizz shows how to hookup those trigger-made CC buttons in the SoA making trigger. And if I make said CC through template that uses incorrect tooltip frames (causing them to not have default tooltips?) then I am able to modify buttons tooltips through "set dialog item tooltip" action.
But that is shorta irrelevant here because they then start to behave like regular dialog item tooltips - usually being anchored to display on top of dialog item. Buuut if they could be anchored ..
I tried making dialog item tooltip and then setting it as tooltip for hooked up button, but I utterly failed to get any sort of information displayed in it (could only anchor it). How do you work with them?
The parent frame is the CommandPanel itself, so I made it anchored to the parent of that frame instead (the ConsoleUIContainer, which is a full screen panel).
The example XML will move the frame to the bottom and roughly middle of the screen.

Here is the relevant XML to alter the command card tooltip location

@DuckyTheDuck: Go
<TooltipAnchorPosition val="BottomRight"/> doesnt work?
