In this tutorial I will be teaching you how to place units in other buildings such as a zealot in a starport or a thor in a nexus. This can be used to help you create many cool features in your maps.
So to start open up the Starcraft 2 Galaxy Editor and create a slab of terrain which can be any size you want! Also choose "Campaign (Liberty)" in the dependancies tab if you wish to use custom units such as Tassadar.
Next find a nice spot on the map and make a small raised hill.
Next lets place a pylon on the hill and say thats the building we're going to construct units from.
Now lets take a trip to the Data Editor. This is where we're going to make everything important happens. First you should go to the search box and type the word pylon which will then find the pylon quickly for you. Click pylon and take in all of those big words off to the side. Also make sure you have the "show object explorer" because we'll defiantly need that.
Moving on were going to the "Command Card" and you'll notice that all there is is a cancel icon; lets add out own by selecting a blank tile a click the green +X sign. Using your trusty search box again type Immortal into which will be the unit we're using. Be careful now though because there are 2 icons with an immortal on them. Hover over each to find the one that just says Immortal and not Immortal Hallucination and choose it. If you'd like you can set the Command Type to an "Ability Command".
OK now we need to add an ability. So double click abilities and add the ability "command center - (train command center)" which will allow us to build units out of the pylon.
Next lets look on the bottom left in our "show object explorer" and you'll see the new ability we added "command center - (train command center)". Click it. Now Double click the field "Ability - Info - Button - Default Button" and click the "train - scv" and change the first drop down tab " info - button - default button"
Then Scroll to the very bottom and change the "info-time" to 0 and "info-unit" click the green +X and find the immortal. Now your very far in the tutorial and very successful if you've made it this far.
Now go back to your command card select the immortal tile:
command type: ability command
requirements: none
ability: command center - train
ability command: warp in immortal
were all done playing with the pylon*
In your search bar type immortal in. Change the cost and supply to both to "0".
Now it's time to test! Woo
Alright, this is my first tutorial written here on SC2Mapster.com and I hope to bring you more soon. I am currently only going to be showing you guys [Absolute Beginner] Tutorials, because I am an [Absolute Beginner] and have spent many hours attempting to do this lol so I hope I save someone very many hours.
If you have an suggestions or want to recommend my next tutorial just send me a PM.
eheheh.....hello again. xD i'm having some tiny issues. 1st: When i make the cost for the immortal zero it changes it to 50? (realized this was cuz of second problem.) 2: When i build the immortal, an scv comes out too. :P
READ THIS: ahahah, i feel like an idiot. I got it fixed, i had the train scv part still goin so it made an scv and an immortal, thus having it cost 50, and 1 supply. :D fiiiixed it.
Go to the pylon's ability tab and add the ability "move". Underneath it shows a bunch of boxes and it says "button:". Click on the top left box (Underneath where it says Command Card), then click the green + sign to the far right (also known as Add Button) and add "move" again. Basically you gave it the ability to move, and then you gave it the button to issue the move order. But make sure after you give it the button that you click below it where it says "Command type" and set it to "Ability Command". The bottom two selections should light up now, set Ability to "Move" and Ability Command to "Move".
Is there a way to make it so that normal buildings you build during a game have extra units. Like having Terran players put down a barracks and have the option to build Zealots or Medics as an example?
This would probably help a lot of noobies at Galaxy Editor. Happy to see your making tutorials! One thing I noticed is that you had 2 pictures that were exactly the same except for the pylon....I think you should save yourself some effort and leave one of them out, since the terrain shape and location of the building are not relevant to the tutorial. But otherwise nice Job!
And baneling85....1st: Doubble check that if you click on the ability drop down tab in your screenshot that you dont see the warp in imortal option. You also have to make sure the pylon has the ability also, so in the unit tab, select your pylon and click on Abilties+, and make sure your warp immortal ability is in that list.

@Galactica12: Go
You can set the supply to zero if you like so you can make infinite just for fun. Glad you got your problems fixed. Post anymore if you like.
I changed to ability to 'Move' to make the pylon move and the button doesn't show up. How can I make a pylon move?

Thanks for the reply.
I followed the exact steps, and the button is still not showing up.
This is how my screen looks like

Thank you for the very cool tutorial.

@pdboddy: Go
Yeah its really easy, just add the ability Warp in Zealot for example to the building, then add a button for it in the command card
Found the tutorial helpful. Thanks
