Map > Map Textures > Modify > Activate "Show Table View" if it isn't on yet (second button from the left in the row of buttons left of the search bar) > find Textures - Blend > Double click the value behind it
But when I try to use one of my newly imported textures, it just doesn't paint. I feel like this might be a common issue, but the other threads I found on this didn't offer any help.
I've tried restarting the editor, starting from a different base tileset, importing different textures... still no go. :(
HOWEVER, when I created an all new blank map, then imported textures, it worked just fine. Apparently there's some setting messed up within my map? Any idea?
Isn't it just to convert the texture in the texture tab under map properties?
Textures that have painted on the map are shown there. If you have painted dirt just press the right dirt icon (dirt>dirt*) and you can replace that texture with the new one.
What njordys said. You have to first change them in the data editor, then use the textures tab (tiles not yet used are excepted, and need only the first).
Just to confirm, I'm pretty confident what Scrinking is saying is false. I can't give a 100% guarantee, but I'm pretty damn sure you should be able to change textures you've painted. If you can't, it's likely a case of your map bugging out - we've seen people around here with that issue (try searching for 'texture' in the terrain board if needed).
You can change them, but if you paint that texture at all (even if you remove it) and then change it in the data to something else, it will still count to the 8 texture limit.
Got it... sort of. It took a combination of changing the terrain to a another default terrain, clearing ALL of my placed terrain, editing an existing terrain, then opening and closing the editor repeatedly.

That sounds more or less accurate to me. I just didn't want to post such an obscure solution :D

I saw the FAQ and tried this:
Map > Map Textures > Modify > Activate "Show Table View" if it isn't on yet (second button from the left in the row of buttons left of the search bar) > find Textures - Blend > Double click the value behind it

If you've already painted a texture, you can't remove it ever. It's stupid but blame blizzard.
Therefore at least one texture must be the same as the tileset chosen if you are changing textures.
@ScrinKing: Go

Or, at least that's happened to me every time.

Thanks for all the help.
