With another week starting, it's also time for another WTE. This week however, it's "Storytime"! As per an idea by Scbroodsc2, you guys get to terrain a bit of a story dependant on your picks. What picks you ask? Well, first, pick a capital letter: 'A', 'B', 'C', or 'D'. Now pick a number: '1', '2', or '3'. Now pick a lower case letter: 'a', 'b', 'c' or 'd'. Lastly, pick a symbol: '!', '@', '#', or '$'. Now look here for this week's theme for you.
Hope to get something good this week. Good luck and have fun! =)
I should probably note: the symbols are added as arbitrary restrictions in order to force people to try to work around them. I.e: getting the "only 4 textures" one means you'll have to get creative with doodads to make up for the lack of textures and vice versa.
This is the perfect place to learn and hone in on your terraining skills :) ,even though I myself am a bit of an overachiever, I learned over time through these weekly terraining exercises.
Sarcasm aside, I'd recommend playing around with some of the zerg wall doodads for a start, and perhaps putting some tentacles and such across the ground. Eggs are also always nice.
It's in the game, stupidly enough. It's the Depth of Field setting on camera's. Go to the Camera palette, create a camera, set your view to screenshot position, use the 'set camera to current view' button, double click the camera for options.
To change subject, I modified a bit the original marine animation in Blender. I know that I'm off topic. but I know too that you guys are good to make nice critics and have the sense of aesthetic, so if some of you have time, here is the link :
O_o those are pretty darn good, and I'd say as far as names go they're fairly appropriate, I might have to use those animations some time. The crawl animation was a bit wonky with the head bobbing and the unburrow animation the final gun placement made for a rough transition to the regular stand animation. I would also definitely add a burrow stand animation. Really nice job overall though.
Should you decide to do more animations a different jump animation kinda like this...
Weekly Terraining Exercise #151

I'm curious, your theme sounds like a fun one.

D3d!
Let's see...
Zerg hive, defending themselves from a zerg hive, without further restrictions!
Hrrm.
B2c!
Hmm, tempted to give it a shot, but my terraining skills are pretty lacking...

@joecab: Go Alright then, gonna give it a try! :)
(Okay guys, I bet a can make a map with working triggers and stuff within this week... It will be an interactive map!)
Also I need to spice up this zerg area but don't know how.
The creep tumors are invisible

Beautiful. Truly a work of art.

Here's an unfinished version
Includes: -The first objective -Introductory cinematic for the secondary objective (but no second objective)
Edit: Shoot, defending themselves...
Uhh, well, I mean it's kind of interchangeable since they're both zergs. You just get the be the offensive ones!
Also, merry pizza-stargate-mas season.
I might as well toss in a quick a joking one in to get back in the groove :D
Inspired by last week's carbot animation.

I wished the probe to be chasing around an SCV with DTs behind cheering hahaha

Very nice. How did you make the fuzzy background?

Am I stupidly enough or the fact? :P

I got pretty dam creative with my doodads haha, the massive guns and mothership thing look plain badass.
They say a second sun rises in shakarus...
one that shines brighter even than the golden armada...
Once midnight, and sure doom strikes...
Twilight rises in the night
Confusing display!?
Well, two can play at that game!
Well, here's my attempt: http://imgur.com/vfe3Iwv
Wish I could get a skybox working properly though. Also, should've made the temple smaller probably, whole thing didn't fit in the screen. xP
