I made an intricate terrain for my custom game with pathing and water and lots of things, then realized that the place I wanted to put an object was not playable and therefore I couldn't put a doodad there. I really don't want to go back and re-edit a lot of the map. Is there somehow I can edit the playable area so that I can put an object closer to the edges of a map?

Anyways, changing your map size is very easy. Just go to the "Map" menu in the top bar, and then select "Map Bounds". From there, you can use the little arrows on the side of the map to increase or decrease the map size. Checking the boxes underneath will change which part of the map border you are actually modifying.

Depending on how much room you need, you don't even need to do this. Holding shift while placing an object turns off its placing requirements, which allows you to place the object anywhere you want. It's a really easy way for decorating your map's edges.
Also, good question, I'm going to add this to the FAQ.
