Sorry, but I haven't really looked into this much. Right now the Death Nova effect I use with the Uberlisk is just a radial aoe damage with an added actor of the Nuke Explosion. I haven't even been able to find the "psionic explosion" effect they showed on the Blizzcon video so I am not much help there. If I get some time I can look into it some and will update if I find anything useful.
Guide updated to include some more pictures as well as a note on the View Settings I use while creating the guide. The new screen shots have doubled the size of the file but the name remains the same. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to improve the guide.
Once again you can always get the latest version from my Dropbox link below (I might just add this thing to my signature or something...lol)
OK, because some of my guide didn't make sense due to the changes in how things are selected in the Data Editor with the release of Patch 13 I went back through creating the Spine Crawlers on the Uberlisk and have updated my Guide accordingly.
Please get the most recent version of my Guide from the link below (you can just Save it and overwrite my old one if need be since I have not changed the name of the file). Please let me know if there is anything else I can do to improve the guide.
Also thanks onisagi for that wiki article. Will help others understand better where the attachment points will make things appear on the Ultralisk model!
1.) When you add an Action of RefSet (Reference Set) their are two Parameters to it; the name and the source. All you have to do is type in the name field what I provide in the guide. If you are not using the same names for actors as I provide in my guide then you simple replace the UberliskRangeAttackMissile portion with whatever you call your Missile Actor. So it would look like ::scope.(Name of your Missile Actor)Scope
2.) Not sure where you are getting a scope.TentacleAttack Action as there isn't anything like that in my guide. There is a Refset Action with a Name of TentacleAttack as well as RefClear Action in another Actor.
For the Events somethings you will have to just type in as you see them and others will be selections from drop-downs. It just really depends on the option. I will probably have to see about updating the guide after looking through the GE as they have changed the layout quite a bit with the most recent patch.
In the Portion that says Token, to the right of that it says Uberlisk (after you renamed the Actor) and below that it says Ultralisk right now. You should be able to double-click on the Ultralisk text there to open a drop-down box with a list of Units. You would select your Uberlisk Unit from there.
As for the Sounds area, they change the layout quite a bit with the most recent patch and the view can look a lot different depending on which settings you have turn on next to the Search box (see below). If you use similar settings to what the picture shows you should be able to follow along with my guide without many issues. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help.
Sorry for the delay, haven't had internet for the last day or so. I took a look at your map and was able to resolve the issue. I have attached a fixed version of it to this post. I will also pm you information on what all I fixed. The main thing was some issues with Events on your Model Addition Actor along with issues with your Host Return/Supporter settings on your Missile Actor. Let me know if I can help again.
OK Xeridanus. I went over your Uberlisk and there was really only one thing that was keeping it from working. There also a few minor mistypes that effected the look of the tentacles attacking but only one thing was breaking it really. I sent you a PM on what all I found. I would also advise you make sure your using the most recent version of my Guide when doing this. You can always get the most recent version from the link below. Let me know if you have any questions. As always if anyone has further suggestions on how to improve the guide let me know.
Well I could look at the new one or you could grab the fixed version of the first one you posted that I have attached to this post (also going to PM you a file listing what all I had to change to get it to work). I will note that while going over your map I found something that could break the Spine Crawlers not showing up and I updated my Guide accordingly. You can get the latest version of my guide from the link below and I have also attached it to this post.
Glad to hear it devilesk. I guess this will see some more attention since it was posted on the front page O_o. As I asked at the beginning of posting this if there is anyway to improve the guide please let me know. I was working on creating a video tutorial that walked through the current guide but so far that is over an hour long. I still might see about finishing that up and posting it on Youtube but I need to see about getting a better Mic as the quality is pretty bad when I am talking in the videos.
That' something odd the Editor does, When you first set the Source I always set it to (None). However once you close out of those windows and go back into them and select those Events again it shows that Plant thing over there. As long as nothing shows up on the left hand side for the Event you should be fine. You can send me the map if you like. It is up to you.
Sorry for the late response. Are all of the tentacles getting stuck in the air or are a only a few of them?
If all of them are then you probably forgot to add the ::Supporter line in the Target box for the following Events in the UberliskRangeAttackMissile Actors:
If only a few of them are then once again make sure all of the UberliskRangeAttackMissile Actors have that ::Supporter in the target for those Events and also make sure that you added the needed 2-5 to the end of the TentacleAttack line in these Events as well as the following Event in the UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle Actors:
The Spines are meant to be passive (meaning you don't interact with them). You don't see them listed as a Weapon cause we told it to make them Hidden in the Options for the weapons. That weapon area of your Units only shows like 4-5 things anyways so you wouldn't even be able to see all 5 of the SpineCrawler Weapons anyways. The SpineCrawlers themselves should just be attacking anything within there range you don't have to tell the Uberlisk to do anything.
FYI: I am working on a video tutorial that show everything on creating the working SpineCrawlers attached to the Uberlisk. Right now it is looking like the tutorial will be about 1 hour in length and I will have to slip it up into 6 10-minute videos to even attempt yo get it on Youtube..lol. Might be awhile before you see that though.
Humm....those were the ones causing my issues before. If you like you can share your map with me and I can take a look at it and let you know what the issue is. Up to you. :)
Number 7 (SOpAttachTarget7) should be appearing on the upper right portion of the Uberlisk's head as you look at it from behind. Make sure on your SOpAttachTarget7 Actor that you changed the Target Index value to 7 and of course for that tentacles UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle Actor make sure you typed in your SOpAttachTarget(# here) command in correctly in the Host Attachment + field (needs to be spelled exactly as the command is).
This was an issue I had for awhile when I first made my Uberlisk. I thought I had followed hati's XML guide to a '"t" when I was transposing it to the Data Editor but after going over it in further depth my issue was on my UberliskRangeAttackMissile Actors (I was calling them UberliskRangeLMWeapon prior to making my guide). My issue was that I was not adding the ::Supporter line into the Target fields on the specified Events. Once I fixed that along with properly adding a 2-5 to the TentacleAttack (Name) for the following Event it worked fine:
For the second one it may be confusing. It should be something like WeaponStart.UltraliskRange.AttackStart (Msg Type.Source Name.Sub Name)
My guess is that since your Spine Crawlers are not burrowing to fully "attach" to the Uberlisk is that when they teleport away from it to attack it is triggering the ActorOrphan Event which causes them to Destroy themselves. If you fix the burrowing issue and they still exploded you can either share the map with me and I can try to fix it or you can download my UberliskTest map and look that over to compare youself. (Map was attached to a previous post of mine above).
In regards to the tentacles attacking a target and then just seeming like they stick to the ground...make sure on your UberliskRangeAttackMissiles you check these Events:
Make sure the areas that have (add 2-5) that you actually adding that number to the correct actors. It is also important to put ::Supporter in the Target field of the specified Events
Same thing for the UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle Actors. They have the Event:
In regards to one of your tentacles exploding the instant the map starts it could be a couple of events. Make sure under the UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle Actors that you have added the following Events correctly:
Outside of that all I could advise is to try and determine which of the Tentacles is the one exploded in relation to the placement on the Uberlisk and compare the Actors associated to it with one of the working ones.
Tip: The Target Points (Host Attachment +) used on the UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle are connected as such:

Most likely you want to check the UberliskSpineCrawlerTentacle Actors Events.
