Could just be for marketing(maybe it was his sister);p?
The email address name he/she uses(I wont say what it is) is certainly a guy`s name, and when I input that into facebook it leads to a profile page of someone stating "Sex = male".
So erm..yeah..lol;p
Besides, theres no way a female could be this hardcore into Sc2 mapping/editing. I dont believe it.
Im surprised this map is not at first position, or even top 5(before the reset). The number of views and replies in this thread is huge. The map itself is pretty fun, not perfect, but definitely better than Nexus wars. I wonder what is still holding Catalyst back?
Another possible solution to save a "sinking" map from complete oblivion is to remove it yourself.
Atleast temporarily anyway.
Then you can take a deep breath, relax, and work in private on getting it right, cutting unnecessary stuff, making improvements, running closed tests on new features etc. Sometimes its dangerous testing new things to the public, and I would always advise to do as much "in house" testing as possible before releasing anything major.
So, then after sometime you can release the new and complete version. It will be like a "comeback", new and improved and fresh and all that.
It can be a very effective tactic if things are spiraling down. It takes a lot of stress off the developer as well. So keep that in mind, if you ever feel that you are running out of options on what to do.
I know a lot of mappers get disheartened when their maps take a knock in the popularity. But thats only temporary. They bounce back at unexpected times. And vice versa, where people suddenly lose interest in popular maps and those maps go down. So its an Ebb and Flow type thing.
Keep up the good work.
If I can give one piece of advice. That would be "simplification". That is the pinnacle to any success. Work on that. See it from a "player" point of view, which is hard, but get some close friends to offer whatever advice they can too. Simplification is the key.
I think you are adding too much, too soon?. Players could possible not be able to really keep up with it.
Catalyst also dropped in the popularity. It used to be on page 1. I think the earlier builds were a lot more simple, and somewhere a long the line, maybe players miss something from that?. Im not sure.
When you put that way, I do concede as I cannot argue with that. You are indeed correct.
I just felt you were being a bit harsh on Eiviyn. Its always good to give advice/feedback in a positive way , So that the designer is encouraged.
When people start taking a superior attitude over the designer, It doesn`t really feel nice at all, Saying things like "It Suxx"(That other guy).
So yeah, you are correct, but be more supportive and encouraging in a positive way, Giving logical and good points;)
It's just like you want you map to be played more, rather than just being good...
Dont be a drama queen. Its really much harder sometimes to balance a game than to create it.
Sc2mapster isn`t exactly the best place to get a lot of feedback from either. Most players that play the maps dont even bother to stop by , anywhere, to give feedback. So, sometimes one has to go with gut instincts and stuff like that. Its really not very easy.
I dont think you should remove the high ground aspect. It looks pretty cool how it currently is.
The thing is, because the middle gives you access to much deeper territory, It should be slightly harder to defend/maintain. I think less units or defences should pass through there, It has to be sort of exposed in someway.
Seems the people here really like it:p. I should give it a try sometime.
I had noticed it was kinda low on the list. A few pages. Maybe advertising it on the Bnet.forums and even Team liquid, Could help boost the popularity considerably. Especially since a lot of the comments here seem really positive.

I enjoyed the first Catalyst. Version 2 sounds really cool, Will keep a look out for it;p.
Will it still be EU only?

Posting in epic thread.
And also, Is it just me, or is there some lag in the map?. I was playing other custom maps just fine, but I noticed some lag with Catalyst.

Kinda have to agree with this statement. Having played a few games, I feel the middle once captured, offers too great an advantage.
