Don't know how well you can modify tooltips in-game in SC2, but I think in WC3 it'd be a pain. A command is probably easier, unless you add another icon in card that is made to show damage for the other skills. Which'd probably also be a pain haha.
I will probably go for 1 icon, which says stuff like: "Overall spell damage increased by: 153%"
In SC2, you can modify tooltips sort of okay-ish. You can create a bunch of dummy effects and use upgrades or CatalogSetValue to make them show the value you like. The hard thing would be checking for all the circumstances (level of hero, level/current damage of spell, all stats of hero, items/spells with increased spell damage etc etc)
No way you could make a tooltip that changes all the time, like with the normal desc, you could have "Current damage: #'. Or a command to show current skill damage. PS: The 1% increase is from original value or incremental? (1.01 then 1.02 or 1.01 then 1.0201?)
I definitely want to include something like that. Not sure, if i will be able to show the modified damage in the tooltip, but I could try to add an extra button holding information about all % increases by stats and items or something.
The % increase is additive, so 1.02 for your example.
well when i started using it i was sorta busy (shame we can't put the replay out as a video really quickly) so i didn't notice it
if i remember correctly it does 115 damage normally which is 230 damage to shields which doesn't do much against most high level units but hey
Its 115 damage per EMP blasts, you fire 2 blasts, so thats 230 / 460 vs shield. Also, every point in intelligence increases spell damage by 1 % and there are items to further increase spell damage. It already has more damage than your average spell, and affects a huge area. And the higher tier units are not meant to be one-shotted by standard skills ;)
Still, balancing will be reworked anyway, so this might be changed as well.
I tested the localization issues with a friend. He confirmed, the german version has correct tooltips now. So I assume, most locals work correctly. If something is still broken for you, please report and tell me, which locale you are using.
Another try to fix localization errors. The Localizer does not seem to work properly on my map, so I tried to do it manually. I hope everything works now.
i didn't mean about the shotgun that one works but at level 5 or something (was a bit busy trying to survive to really look) you can put the second point in but you dont get the sniper rifle till the next level which seems a bit cheating like,or it could be working as intended but your tooltip says something along the lines of "new weapon every skill up".
It should actually say "new weapon every 2 skill points" ;)

were drones at the consumable shop? i didn't notice i still think that a sudden rush of those things is a bit OP though especially since somepeople (like me) won't notice the drones
Yes, there are quite a lot of things, which people won't realize at first. I need to add more information ;)

also i would change the name of thors EMP as when i was using it i thought it knocked cloak off, or stunned them or something then i read the tooltip and realised its a splash attack and its a >.< face from me
Well, I could add a decloak and energy drain effect, or, if you have a fitting suggestion, I could change the name ;).
Rofl. So we from HLWRoC get to roflpwn newbies until we feel like explaining stuff? It was the same way in HLWRoC!!! Lol. (I'm serious, some people needed to be told to send stuff, it was sad...)
I will improve the help features a lot. Hopefully, noone has to explain the whole game.
i think you should rename the Thor's Imortality Protocol the "Kad Protocol" in honor of my epic last stand and do you think you can modify the mothership's ability to cloak other units because having multiple motherships stops people from being able to see anything
You can get observer drones at the consumable shop to see invisible units, and close to your starting area cloaked units should be revealed as well.

the marine talent tree seems to let you buy the "swap gun" spell 1 level before you can actually swap to a new weapon
Could you elaborate? You should be able to swap to the shotgun after learning the first level of the spell.

oh and is there a new spell for all the characters as we had 3 extra talent points.
Not yet, maybe I will add some more levels and an attribute bonus? Maybe the whole leveling system will be overhauled? I don't know yet.
I improved consumable healing items in the lategame, so surviving should be possible now ;). I did not really test them (well, for functionality, they do work, but not, if they are actually balanced).
For all of you expecting the map: I did not include THAT much help for new players right now, so be prepared for some confusion at first. Players knowing HLW from WC3 should be able to get along, though.
I see your recent matches.. Everywhere HLW and i become jealous :<
Indeed, I was testing a couple of times with my teammates (well, only one of them :D) and some buddys. Like expected, the balancing is still way off, and currently, it is very hard to survive in the later stages of the game due to a lack of lategame items or other ways to power up your hero in the lategame.
However, we encountered a surprisingly low amount of bugs, the overall engine works nicely, the perfomance was okay (well - when we sent absolute unreal masses of units, of course it would lag like hell ;) )
I thought there was only one other HLW being made? Meh. Anyway, yeah, it does look awkward without spaces...but eh. (Spell out WoL and/or HLW? [HLW: Wings of Liberty; Hero Line Wars: WoL; Hero Line Wars: Wings of Liberty; perhaps no colon but the point was made])
One other I know of (no news since january), and one long abandoned one. But many more might have attempted something similar already, and every name they have taken for any private test release is not available anymore.
I can be however I want to be. Learn to live in the now sometimes, because now we're about to get HLW WoL! (No? Did we ever settle on a name?)
As for the name, I will go for just HeroLineWars, I think. HLW WoL is already taken and so is Hero Line Wars with spaces. However, while without spaces might look awkward, it comes in handy with Blizzard's retarded search bar - if you search Hero Line Wars you will get about every map with "hero", "line" and "wars" in it, so you need so scroll a while to get to Hero Line Wars. In one word, without spaces, you should be able to find it instantly.

And yeah it might not seem very good at first. That's why the first version is rarely (if ever) the final version. :P
lol sandman, relax bro. Theres a long rocky road ahead of keuken to get this game balanced along with adding new characters ect so dont get blown away by the first release lol.
So true...

I've done a fair bit of programming at Tafe ( javascript, html, css, php) and Uni ( java, which i am learning right now.) but i have never thought of playing with the "easily moddable" new starcraft 2 editor. Ill consider playing around with it then if i like it and learn more about it ill try and lend you a hand keuken. Not giving any promises tho :S
In this case, let me throw your words right back at ya: "Theres a long rocky road ahead of you" :p

For this, I would need to buy another copy of SC2, which I not plan to do.
Another update after finding some more bugs:
v0.4:
Version 0.3 up for Europe. Mostly visual and display bugs fixed
Changelog:
I would have to give the map to someone, who can access the US server. This will probably happen within the next days.
I will probably go for 1 icon, which says stuff like: "Overall spell damage increased by: 153%"

I will wait some days to fix the most eminent stuff (like the localization issues), then I will attempt to release the Map at NA and SEA as well.
In Europe, the name ist "HeroLineWars".
Another try to fix localization errors. The Localizer does not seem to work properly on my map, so I tried to do it manually. I hope everything works now.
It actually causes double damage to shields.
It should actually say "new weapon every 2 skill points" ;)

Yeah, well, it is released now. There were some localization errors, so I uploaded another new version already.
For the balance changes, I will take a little more time.

A necessary evil... yes it seems I need to do that.
€ Updated first post and project page. Also added a release date for the public beta: Tomorrow :) (most likely in the evening, for the EU map night)
