Hi all. Good tutorial Th3LaughingMan. I want to add just one thing. It is enough to make it only color alpha to icon and it's work. You don't need even resize icon. Just 1 step and you got icon for button. I don't understand why you do so many actions. This button will not concede on the functionality that you got you. Maybe I'm something do not understand?
Resizing the button is because of the fact that the standard button size to begin with is 76 x 76, is also saves SC2 one step of resizing to 76 x 76 since if you didn't SC2 would have to re-size it every single time it gets displayed.
Cropping out the border is there for the fact that if you didn't do this then you would totally hide the background image used for buttons and would end up looking funny.
Every step I made in this tutorial had a legitimate reason behind it.
Question: following your tutorial, though im using photoshop instead of gimp, sooo im using the nvidia dds plugin, when i go to save as .dds and choose DXT5 it comes up with an error stating that the height of my image is not a power of 2, does anyone know why this is happening and how to get around it ?
Does the height of your image end is a 0, 2, 4, 6 or 8? If not... error solved! If it does... no clue! LOL just thought I'd throw that out there. You never know...
A quick tutorial showing you how to use Gimp and make usable icon for Starcraft 2.
Check out my Icon Assets also! I have converted WC3 & WoW Icons and working on Starcraft, Diablo, Diablo 2, WC, along with WC2.
This is absolutly great! I never have saved my imports. XD - Good job.
Really nice job, :).

Save as TGA with 32 bit option. Import. Use. No .dds conversion is needed.
