These are the first two in a series of tutorials I am putting up in an effort to communalize all our knowledge about how the Data Editor Functions.
The idea is to provide a definition of all the different fields in the Data Editor, and an explanation of how they are used. I was going to post them straight on here, but unfortunately sc2mapster doesn't support many of the tag used to format the tutorials, such as [GOTO], [POINT], [STABLE], etc. The tutorials are quite extensive, and I don't really want to reformat the entire thing.
So I am linking instead. At the moment the tutorials are a bit sparse in field description, so I hope you guys will help me add to them, post here or on the Hive if you know what a field does, and I will edit the topic as necessary.
But keep in mind, for now at least it is not all accurate. I have added a notification for those that I am not very sure of.
I have finished up the ability fields, though I am told there are a number of other ones for different ability types, I will not be adding them now, unless someone gives me a list of them.
I am going to move onto Effects (Since Paul asked for that), and hopefully come back to abilities later
Push Priority: Determines the behaviour of friendly ground units when they collide. Lower or equal relative push priority means the unit will flank / step aside to make way for units with higher push priority. Does not apply to units on hold position.
Maximum range ammo can move from host. For the carrier this determines how far the carrier can go before interceptors return (if they are still fighting).
(None) - Launch Type
How ammo is launched. Fire at target, release at source, release at target. For the Carrier, release at target causes interceptors to launch from their target. Fire at target and release at source do same thing for carrier.
(None) - Info - Flags
Autobuild: Can unit replenish itself
Autobuild on: Is it on by default
External: Does ammo hover around unit. This can be used to make interceptors flank the carrier at all times.
(None) - Info - Manage
Whether it recalls ammo, destroys on use or ignores after use. For carrier it recalls. Destroy on use causes interceptors to be destroyed after combat ends and ignores after use causes them to just stop moving entirely, even if carrier leaves.
(None) - External Angle
Define angle for external ammo locations. Ex. Add more external angles for more ammo. Divides ammo into these angles. For example, 90, 180 and 270 for a carrier with 9 interceptors will have 3 at each position flanking it as it moves around.
Some things to note:
If you switch carriers ammo for another flying unit and wish to use external ammo, ensure that air collision is off or the units will move around by themselves.
A rundown on the Actors would be really helpful, that's basically the only remaining part of the editor that I need help with. This tutorial helped a lot with getting used to the data editor, but the actors are still tricky...
Thank you, I added most of them, but I am gonna hold off on some of the rest, especially since unfortunately you didn't provide me with the field type.
Yeah this really helped me a lot too, when I went through all these fields.
Once I get my hands on GE again (I don't have Sc2 yet), I will get back to improving these tutorials and adding new sections. Actors or Behaviours will be next, probably Actors.

WoW, really impressive!
Awesome.
Great job! I fell over this one:
Kill Resource:
The amount of selected resource the player gets when killing the unit.
Thanks :)
I hope some people will help fill in the unknown fields though.
I hope the Effects fields are next, then the Actors? :P These are really helpful.
Ardinev, would you mind if I copy/pasted your information in the Data section of the wiki later? It would help alot the compilation.

Go ahead :)

Added Effects to the series, Behaviours are next.

Sorry everyone I took so ridiculously long to reply, without any sort of subscription feature it is hard for me to keep track of replies to my topics.

Thanks for the info, I added it to the tutorial

Bump, lets try to get all these fleshed out. A lot of fields are still blank/unknown!
Post what you know.
SC2Mapster now has it's own wiki which already covers all those.

The wiki has a lot of incomplete entries, but man it's useful.
Ever tried ours?
