So I followed this tutorial and ended up with everything right for the turret but its sitting on top of a checkered ball. Its not using the Bunker. Where do I need to look, and what am I looking for to fix this?
I believe this is the error the editor is giving me.
Invalid attach method [Unavailable] in AttachQuery[Methods=e_attachKeyIGNORE Fallback=IGNORE].
Also, in this example, is the turret firing its weapon? Or does the weapon actually belong to the Bunker and its just firing from the location of the turret?
This is a good tutorial but I am having some issues. I need to run through this again with the information I hope I figured out correctly. But I think you make some assumptions that where somewhat frustrating to me. I suspect that we were viewing the data editor differently which caused me some grief in finding items you were talking about. I think it would be good if you started by telling how you use the editor. I think the view options that make the most sense are Show Table View activated Show Default Values Activated Show Advanced Fields Activated Show Field Type Names Deactivated and Combine Structure Values activated. Additionally I think you should list the dependencies that you are using for the map. Finally there were somethings like Duplicate the bunker and its actor which weren't clear to me either as when I hit duplicate I was present with 40 or so check boxes . I guessed at Bunker checked at the top and bunker checked under the actor section beneath bunker.
The ultimate issue that I am having though is that I get this warning " Warning: Invalid attach method [Unavailable] in AttachQuery[Methods=e_attachKeyIGNORE Fallback=IGNORE]." when I try to place the bunker on the map. Also if I make the model "Attachment Bunker" the bunker portion shows as a white hemisphere with the turret rotating atop it but no shield to be found. And in game I get an error about not being able to load the adjutant 2 asset. In any case I try the tutorial again on a fresh map and see what happens.
You should get in the habit of editing with all 5 buttons enabled on the right of the center divide. All of my tutorials were made with this setup. All of my tutorials also use three dependencies. Some of my earlier tutorials, don't have the Campaign dependencies, but this doesn't matter because this setup gives you access to everything in the editor and is backwards compatible:
Liberty Story (Campaign)
Liberty (Campaign)
Liberty (Mod)
In that order. Keep in mind that you can always download my test map and look at exactly how my dependencies are setup.
As for duplicating you guessed right. I mean, quite literally, check the top box and the one actor box that has the same name. After you've made these adjustments and tried again let me know if you're still having the same problem and we can start from there :)
Well I tried it again and I am receiving the same error. I noticed a few other things when going through the tutorial a second time and I think that some of the issues I am having may be related to editor updates.
Weapons tab - Effect field requires the weapon to be a legacy weapon.
Name the building's Actor Attachment Bunker - Couldn't find this on the units tab but I did find "bunker copy" on the actors tab renamed it there.
Host + Subject > Attachment bunker. - I had to check actor to find the item.
Attack Start and Attack Stop are not available in the subname on events+ There is however Attack redirect and stop redirect.
When I had doubled checked that I had followed the instructions as closely as I could I opened up your map and noticed at the least that the models list on the units tab for your bunker contains all the bunker models. Mine however, does not. So I tried to reduplicate the bunker with various items selected including the models in the duplicate menu but every copy I made did not have the models or the bunker actor.
I am kind of at a loss and I fear that maybe blizzard has changed this process in such a way that this method is no longer effective. Ultimately I have no idea where to go from here. I haven't looked at the Brutalisk tutorial at all yet but I think that I may try looking at that tomorrow.
If you're still having the problem, attach a copy of your map so I can give it a look. If it is indeed something that changed in an update I'll need to look where the change was made and update the tutorial accordingly :)
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong here, I went through and read the replies you gave to people saying that the animation isn't lining up after they used an offset.
The same thing is happening to me but the attachment point seems animated with the unit because it works fine if there is no offset (also the attachment point moves with the unit in the previewer) but as soon as I add any offset it stops animating/scaling with the unit completely.
any ideas?
Edit: I am not sure if my problem is caused from a custom import
Also what I am trying to do is attach a helmet to a skeleton and move it up a little bit so that it looks better. I attached a map to show what I mean.
I also have this problem, I used this tutorial as a basis in making a structure whith the attachment of a point defense drone. However, it does not matter how much I try I can not get it to spin or move. I did the same with a Science Vessel and it spins properly. I have revised this tutorial for days now copying it completly. All this in vain as the problem remains. Could you help me in any way?

As best I can tell this issue is limited to custom models (like imported WoW models). I haven't done much work with complex attachments on important models so I'd need to look into this further before I can say for certain what is causing the issue.

If you're not using a custom model, I don't see a reason why you would have issues. I'd need more details or a copy of your map to know what, exactly, the problem is.
Need help with this one, why isn't my turret moving?
Edit: the turretmodel ehich is a pont defense drone doesn't move att all. however, when I change the model to a sciense vessel it moves and turns properly. I checked the actors and all and I don't see the problem. can you please help?
I have no idea what to do. I seem to be missing some of the parameters.
Some of which include:
-set AI Notify Flags
-set Response Flags
-set Effect: Attachment Turret ( this one doesn't have the "Damage" after it as so) [set Effect: Attachment Turret (Damage)]
-set Idle
-etc.
Why am I missing them?
Also, whenever I switch from one tab to another e.g. "Units" to "Effects", the items I just created disappear.
Using this tutorial, I was able to create a working turret attachment that actually fires. Yay! Thanks ProzaicMuze!
BUT you no longer need to understand attachments in order to create them, thanks to this program: http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/starcraft-2-data-manager/. Using it, I made a template out of my turret attachment. Now the only thing I need to do to create an attachment on a unit is specify four things:
the turret model
the beam model
the attachment point
the host unit
Everything else is copied automatically. :) You guys should try it out.
I need a bit more help yet as I think that I haven't understood everything.
I have attached a wraith to the tank and the attachment is ok.
Now I'd like that the tank fires with his canon every 1.5 secondes (easy to do that) and that missiles are launched by the wraith one side after the other (I use the anti-air missiles) every 3 secondes for example.
Now the missiles are launched together (and they start from the origin of the tank or from the canon of the tank when I put the weapon 01 and 02 as starting point) and only if I attack air targets (I have put "air allowed" not "air required") whereas the canon fires when I attack land targets.
I'd like that the missiles attack both land and air but the canon only land.
And I can't find how to make my missiles start from the two sides missile launchers of the wraith, one after the other.
Create a new Actor named Beam Example Site with Actor Type: Site
set Host +: Subject > Attachment Turret(I'd like to know if it is the turret or the attachment)
set Host Site Operations +: SOpAttachWeapon(what is it ? oO)
open Events + and create the following events:
Unit Birth - Attachment Bunker
Create
Unit Death - Attachment Bunker
Destroy
Yet SOpAttachWeapon doesn't appear anywhere else in the tutorial. I have researched this word in all the page and did not found it.
So I am stuck and the tutorial seems unsuccessfull as it lacks this point very important I guess.
I wonder how some made it to work. If I am wrong tell me.
Attachment Turret is the name of the Actor you are setting as the Host for your Site Actor
SOpAttachWeapon is a Site Operation Actor created by Blizzard. It is not mentioned elsewhere as you do not need to create it yourself. It already exists.
I did this Tut twice from scratch and both times, I've come up with this error:
[4/17/2012 10:20:50 AM] Warning: Invalid attach method [Unavailable] in AttachQuery[Methods=Invalid LinkInvalid LinkInvalid LinkInvalid LinkInvalid LinkInvalid LinkInvalid Lin Fallback=IGNORE].
The bunker turret works completely fine on the second go, and things I noticed that I did different was on the first time, I change models away from Model Type: Foilage and I didn't remove all the bunker abilities and behaviors and I didn't add the shield. Yet the error persists.
I noticed when I created the Site Operator (Attachment) actors, the Method; Methods had "invalid link" in the field. I cleared out about 3 of them, and the error persists.

double check the unit actors of what ever unit u are sitting the turret on, and make sure that the model is set correctly

The weapon belongs to the bunker and is being offset to the attachment.

It keeps saying Link invalid over and over again i think it has to do something with the link and stuff from Host + help me
What is the exact error you are getting? Is "Link Invalid" all that shows up?

I hope that it is not too much complicated ^^
Help please !!! :)
Sorry for the double post but 3 days have passed and no news from anybody.
As nobody answers me, I have tried to understand how to set the missile of the weapons attached to the attachment turret.
I have noticed that in the tutorial the following is written.

So what is this SOpAttachWeapon ?
Attachment Turret is the name of the Actor you are setting as the Host for your Site Actor
SOpAttachWeapon is a Site Operation Actor created by Blizzard. It is not mentioned elsewhere as you do not need to create it yourself. It already exists.
