Is there a simple way to restore the textures back to the default?
edit* Nevermind, got it working. I had tried TextureResetToDefault and wasn't able to get it work before but I think I had just messed something up because now it's working fine.
Hello, thanks for the tutorial! But I am having a bunch of issues and cannot get it to work. I'm trying to replace one of the BloodSplats textures to use a sponsor logo in place of it. I cannot for the life of me get it to work. What am I doing wrong?
So in HotS none of the baneling textures seem to be working. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it? The prefix doesn't seem to have changed...
Edit Okay the problem was pretty obvious and I feel bad about myself for not finding it before posting. HotS actually uses a different baneling model than WoL does. Called "Baneling Ex1". It uses the same prefix as the normal baneling model so all you have to do is copy your texture declarations over to the new model.
I wonder why they are using a new model? It appears identical to the old one.

Hey man, I am not sure why you are having trouble with getting the textures to swap but I might recommend trying a different model. You will find in this thread a model that Zolden made for me specifically for this purpose.
Not sure if my editor is borked or what, but I cannot for the life of me get any of this to work. Every time, the error is the same. For example, with the Thor example that was posted way back in this thread. I opened it, changed the blue texture to something else and got this:
USER: [ 7 1] CActorUnit[Thor] ThorCE Assets\Units\Terran\ThorCE\ThorCE.m3; Could not find texture with id Thor2 and expression <None>
Not to mention that it didn't work to begin with.
I went and duplicated essentially everything written out and explained in this thread yet the error is always the same. Other people's maps don't even work. Any idea on what the issue could be?
Well just from the error message it could be all kinds of things. The error always pops up in the editor after first setting up the texture, an editor restart can fix this. If the error message still exists after a restart or also shows up ingame, would you mind attaching an example map, so we can take a look what you did wrong?
Thor2 was what the texture was called in the example.
I attached the map that the Thor was in where I added a stalker and a zealot both using different methods. None of them work and give me the error message after restarting the whole editor.
EDIT: ...directly after posting this, I went and opened the Texture Swap test map. Played with it for a minute, went back to my map...and the zealot and stalker suddenly worked. Like, what? This was after restarting everything with no dice. I simply tabbed from my map, to the test map, and then back to mine and BAM. Flawless. Dafuq?
Has anyone tried to change decals using this method? I've been trying to do that but I must have missed something. I use this method for the basic diffuse/emissive/specular but for decals I can't get it to work.
Decals are a special case, you don't even need to set up the model for them. You can just add the actor message to swap for a decal and it miraculously works.

Now to REALLY show off :P
Spider Zerg! Spider Zerg! Does whatever a spiderzerg does.
Overseer needs slight adjustment to the middle parts.
Otherwise not bad.

I am not really sure, maybe. Probably has something to do with the new HotS unlockable skins.

Thor2? A dupe issue?

Is anyone aware of a way to show different textures for different players?

I found you need to use the Decal slot. My walker swaps the decal on the photon cannon.
