I would love a tutorial which shows how to create randomly flying and turning doodads and a tutorial on how to create fog which blocks air units vision
I'd like to request an in-depth tutorial of the basics of using the Data Editor. Personally its very hard to migrate from the object editor in Wc3 to the Data editor in Sc2. I don't even know how to set the model and icon of a unit... A tutorial of the Data Editor would be much helpful to I think everyone in here who are new to the galaxy editor.
What the Data Editor basically needs is a huge relationship chart of all the different kinds of Data Objects and how they go together. Basically a list of "dependencies" or "essentials" that you can use as a checklist for each Object you plan to create.
Thanks to their object-oriented approach, making a Unit is exponentially more work than it once was...
I would like a request a tutorial, where I can select a hero from a list (by UI) of heroes, before the start of the game, each player can select their own heroes.
I'm working on an RPG map (like ORPG maps in Warcraft III), and kinda stuff on this part.
Wow, people, maybe we should just start out easy, heh. Most of the requests here are probably very hard to achieve without in-depth training and practicing in the editor, and most of them can also probably be divided into simpler and smaller steps, making the solutions more versatile for multiple projects and questions. Now, having said this, I'd like to go on to my own (fairly simple) requests regarding the basic setup of singleplayer maps. These things should be baked into a big basic tutorial to make it easier for newbs (like me) to get started, and to help the forums stay clean from un-necessary spam. What I (personally) would like to see is the following:
Setting up a Trigger to make the initial camera to focus on a certain point, like the player's unit(s).
Setting up a Trigger to initialize an Objective, for example, "Go west and kill the Zerglings" or "Find location (X) on the map", and this includes showing text messages to the player, some basic variable editing and a goal, like going back to the main menu or loading another map (if you want to make a small campaign).
A basic explanation to Triggers, Conditions and Events and how they work in conjunction with eachother, thus encouraging people to play around with all the settings available, and in the long run probably raise the average knowledge among members here on the forums.
That was what I had to say. I would love to make tutorials like that myself in the future to help all the other newbs out there, once I get some basic knowledge of everything there is to do in the editor. If anyone would like to help out with that, just contact me via PM.
EDIT: I might also consider translating some of these a little simpler tutorials to Swedish once they actually exist.
i would like to request trigger tutorial
im having trouble figuring out how to create new condition/action definitions, and functions. also if someone could explain what an array variable is and what they are best used for, and what are parameters and what are they used for.
I would really like a tutorial on how to make an ability where you send off a "unit" (projectile) that targets a unit that exerts creep as the unit. So it would look like a tiny bit of creep following a unit and if it catches up to that unit that unit dies.
edit:Figured it out
I was wondering if someone could explain all the required events and actors/effects required to get a beam working properly. I've been looking at the disruptor beam as an example but I just cant figure it out :(
I was hoping someone could do a tutorial on camera usage and cinematics use (making the camera move and units moving during the cinematic)
because me and some friends have a machinema planned out but the guy who would help us with the technical stuff no longer has much free time so the whole thing is on hold till we find out how to start filming.
awesome If someone could make a tutorial on how to make hero taverns like in DotA warcraft 3 ( building which is basically a database for hero that you can pick )
I'd like to know if there is a way to save all custom files to a central database rather than a map-to-map basis.
Also, I think a general tutorial covering both basic and advanced techniques / relationships would be great. I've tried to work my way through mrm3fan's Uberlisk tutorial, and I gotta say it's taking a lot of trial and error just to FIND the things I'm supposed to edit.
And another, more in depth tutorial on model combining would be great. would like to see if I can strap some siege tanks to a thor to give it a little more siege usage. but at this point every suggestion on the last 3 pages sounds good.
I agree with the few others who have asked for a tavern that lets you pick a hero. Also if anyone can write a tutorial on getting dodge chance or critical hits
ALSO~ I would like to request a ground breaking tutorial of how to make items with smaller items.
can someone please explain actors. im trying to create an new ability mostly from scratch and im having trouble figuring out how to add an effect(by effect i mean an explosion or some sort of animation etc., not a persistent or damage kind of effect). i would appreciate it if someone would explain what all the different kind of actors do and how to work with them. specifically how to create some sort of animation/model/texture etc. when using an ability
Something I would like to see, which I never see other request; Mapping theory. What makes a good map, how do you encourage different playstyles through map design and other thoughts you must put into creating balanced and interesting maps. This would be for melee, but I would really like to see anything.
I haven't seen a single RTS tutorial on this. It's a bit difficult for those of us that haven't mapped for RTS before.

Hi guys, great site!

Thanks.
If somebody could make a tutorial showing how to use all the features of conversations that would be nice!
I'd like to request a Data tutorial that shows how to create a projectile that only damages enemy units once in the path the projectile travels.
I want to know if i can import custom model and animation

Can someone make a tutorial explaining physics and how to alter them?

I would like an tutorial about adding models to other model with the data editor. (and not just about the uberlisk)

just my 2 cents
