I am Looking for a Tutorial that deals with adding a Add Attributes Button, I have the Attributes and Attributes on Leveling working fine, but I cannot seem to get an Attribute Ability Working.
I am looking for a tutorial, or series of tutorials, that will show me the various mechanics that are known to work in creating a custom map in the Galaxy Editor for Third-Person Shooter. I know there is a traceline function out there I should probably learn, but if anyone knows any tips or tutorials/maps that could help me learn I would greatly appreciate it.
I am looking a tutorial with 3 variations included.
1. How to create a weapon that fires slow moving projectiles at enemy targets, that can be dodged by the enemy after they are fired (and damage avoided). If the projectile is not dodged the enemy unit takes damage.
2. How to create a weapon that fires slow moving projectiles at enemy targets, that does not do damage, but instead creates a mine on the ground at the original target position that detonates after a few seconds.
3. (1) and (2) combined, meaning if (1) occurs and the target does not dodge, damage is taken, otherwise a mine is created. If the target takes damage, the mine is not created.
Please keep in mind I need this done for weapons and not abilities if possible.
I doubt anyone will answer me (due to the depth and length required id imagine)... but what the heck. Worth a try, no ones made one yet anyway (so far as i have seen)
I want a full ADVANCED tutorial on creating a 'click, fire, first enemy hit by projectile takes damage' attack ability.
Or if it is easier, a similar attack to Raynors Commando snipe ability except only damaging the first unit in that line (if its even possible)
I would like to request a tutorial on the various changes you can make with sounds in the Data Editor. Like being able to take a sound file and shorten the looping, or creating custom looping, etc. The editor has soooo many options for editing sound data that it's crazy...The only thing worse is the Lighting editor :P
So I have looked and looked. I Found 1 Tutorial on creating a completely custom weapon from scratch, and I found one tutorial here the describes persistent effects; (though it doesn't describe how to make them). I'm still getting frustrated; probably because I'm starting to think I need to write a stupid check list for all the steps it takes to create a new unit and or weapon (To where as on War3 it was like, 6 friggin' steps for both).
My biggest stumbling block is creating a new weapon from total scratch that uses both launch missile effects and persistent effects.
The simplest tutorial idea I can think of is taking the Marine (who has just a standard, instant attack) and giving him a completely new weapon from scratch that shoots a burst of 3 shots, having each shot do a small AoE to measure collision, and having each round hit the targeted area around the target in random (like artillery accuracy). It would also cover how to make the projectile weapon appear (launch missile effects and actors) and how to properly mash all of them together, + the Terran Upgrades, and then attach it to the Marine. How to use movers wouldn't be a bad idea either if we chose the marine to shoot cluster rockets or something. I myself understand movers though, but this type of tutorial would be great as my google attempts are so far, empty handed at finding a complete guide to creating totally new weapons. A tutorial that uses launch missile effects, persistent effects and what not from scratch would be really, really beneficial in understand HOW things all click together.
Simple request here... Basically this is what I need:
-Objective: Walk/Interact with 3 Regions placed throughout the map.
-What I need to happen: 3 Regions are placed throughout the map. Player must walk/interact with all 3 Regions in order to complete Objective. Objective cannot be completed until all 3 Regions have been interacted with.
This sounds like a simple request... hopefully it is!
Hey. I'm really stuck with triggers while I can't get the idea of "Local variables" and "Conditons". I like to get few examples of some basic triggers that I can modify later for my own needs. Many maps need only couple of very basic triggers to be playable. I think many other are really stuck just like me.
So, could someone help me to do following triggers:
Enemy (computer) has no buildings -> player wins
Player has no buildings -> player loses
How to make marine for example to "hero" (=give it special name and more health or something similiar)
Player's "hero" unit dies -> player loses
Enemy attacks (only) with some specified unit type
How to restrict building of some units/structures
How to get medics, firebats etc. on map
When player destroys any of computer's buildings computer rebuilds it with scv, probe..
"Rescuable" units (own unit moves close to it and player gains control of it)
I don't know do any of those need "Local variables" and "Conditons".
Anyway some examples / tutorial should help so many people with their maps. In Starcraft1 triggers were simple in my opinion compared to 2.
1. How do I add the special characters like Jim Raynor and Kerrigan to my game? I can't find them anywhere in the editor so idk if i have to like, put them in somehow or what.
2. Second thing is how can i make any character a builder. Like I'm making a TD and i don't want the builder to be the obvious builder like the probe or drone. I wanna make it randomly like a marine or a mini siege tank, something different.
I'm looking to how to put in a "If/Then/Else" statement into my actions panel of a trigger. I noticed that another map had this(I use other maps to learn how to trigger) but when I try to put an If, or even any condition into my action, I can't.
Can't find anything about it, so, does anyone know if it's possible to use the "Set Next Map" action for custom maps or is that just for campaigns? And what should I put in there, I've tried putting in the map file name and the name of the map.
I was going to just start on my full version Starcraft 2 editor learning as I go... Then I found out that i'm having problems already... I know a hard tutorial to start.
I was going to start my brand new campaign with "What's your hero's name?"
it came out as "YOU CAN'T CHANGE A UNITS NAME WHILE IN GAME" very easily....

Any info on Cinematics? I do the same as im used to do in the WC3 Editor, but it either freezers, Doesnt load properly, or crashes
Aswell on how to get a pointer *To pickup, move, or delete/rotate units already placed*

I'd like to see a step-by-step tutorial on how to put together a custom set of unit responses (eg "For Aiur" etc) from recorded sound.
Apologies if these have been said before:

I'm having trouble making a hero keep their experience when casting abilities that use multiple versions of the same hero, (burrow, siege mode, ???)
I don't see any way to transfer experience between two units, so it would be great to have a tutorial for that.
i need help with 2 small things.

Is there a tutorial on how to do the Explosion from the Uberlisk from the Galaxy Editor promo video? Would love to do that...
@Feldeat: Go
You have to "Add Action" and then search for "if"
Can't find anything about it, so, does anyone know if it's possible to use the "Set Next Map" action for custom maps or is that just for campaigns? And what should I put in there, I've tried putting in the map file name and the name of the map.

if anyone knows how to do it please PM me :D

Would VERY much like a tutorial on how to make those zerg spores drop from the skies and spawn units :3
Perhaps even where a drone would drop and start building :)
Hey guys! First of all - awesome forum, nice tutorials!
edit: found a solution post, deleting request
