Some of you probably already know this, but I do tutorials on pretty much every part of sc2-editing and this time I'm doing an advanced tower defense... I will be posting my tutorials here now too :D
Thanks for the tutorial OneTwo. You really go over a lot, especially in the data editor and trigger editor fields in your other tutorials, which is my weakest part of the editor thus far.

NP, glad it helps. I've been getting some complaints about going too fast / not being beginner enough, then I get some that say I need to speed up some parts... and then the other 90% are like you and are happy haha.
My weakest area is the data editor by far... I try to avoid it or minimize the time I spend there.
I think you have a good speed. I've only dabbled in the trigger editor and I find that I'm able to keep up. The wonderful thing about videos is that if they think you are going too fast they can always re-watch a part :p.
I also found your first tutorial quite helpful in that I have some friends I'm trying to ease into the editor, and this is a good stepping stone into the trigger editor. The main issue is that people expect to open up the editor and make insane maps with no prior knowledge; this is not the Warcraft 2 editor.
I myself looked at the trigger editor when I first got the Beta and said to myself, "so much for ever making a map." But thanks to people like you, Mikelat and the other contributors on sc2mapster releasing tutorials and work-in-progresses, I've been able to get a solid grasp of how it works by example.

Good to know!
I agree about expectations... but yeah once you know how triggers work... it's a breeze! Data Editor is a mystery sometimes though. Like right now I'm duplicating the hellion's weapon and its actors to change it to a shotgun blast weapon, and I have everything nicely fixed except I haven't found out which field changes the little flame that appears on a unit after they are shot (different than the big fire a hellion shoots). It's only a matter of time I suppose.

I don't feel you move to fast. If I miss something I pause and rewind the video back. I also pause at times to double-check things or to actually input the information in.
In relation to the data editor, when I thought WC3's was in depth we get something so advanced it causes the most map problems/bugs for me.

Yeah I often go ingame and then realize I forgot to set one tiny event in some obscure attack-launch actor or something haha.
Great tutorial! Anyways I did not get the "sell tower" ability to work with your tutorial. I think the problem is you duplicate the "Salvage - Bunker (Refund)" and not the "Salvage - Bunker" ability. When I duplicated the first one I never got the right number of minerals back. I hope this helps someone having the same problem.
Not sure exactly what this means... but I'd look at the ammo unit field in the weapon, and the mover for the missile unit. Hope that gives you a boost to solve this...
mhm, i´ve worked around and tryed a lot, but when i create the map the same way like you did, my "Choose Unit Race" Window wont close..... :(
i think the problem is that i cant set close dialog action to the variable Race choose dialog.... its not under the variables, i can only choose there
last created dialog... i can only pick the trigger with the action: "set Race choose dialog = last created Dialog" .... Hope that you know what i mean xD
any tips where i can look for to solve this problem?
_
Edit: Nevermind, i figured out where my mistake is...
I can get the Upgradet Tower To Work it just dont attack any enemy it just stands there but the effekt is under thy pylon
I think I'm encountering the same problem as this guy. When I upgrade my tower to the Pylon, the cannon's "cannonball" just sits inside of the pylon and doesn't actually fling and do damage to the target (even though it does face it).
O.K., now everything worked fine.
The only problem which i´ve got now, is that the Large Star Shooter didn´t make any sounds...
any idea how to fix that?
Hey OneTwoSC, great tutorial - Ive watched it about 4 times and I've really gotten a good grasp on things and I'm a beginner - My 4th time through Everything seems to work perfectly, I only have one bug and one question.
The bug I have that I cant seem to fix is the wave countdown timer works on only the first wave, and never shows up again for any other wave. I've noticed that the editor is a bit buggy sometimes, so perhaps things that should work don't?
My question is how do I make it so if you choose the flesh team you start out with more resources versus the star team? I'm guessing it would involve an If>then action?
Thanks a ton.
Yes but you wouldn't have to add a new if-then-else, since you can just add the action of player - modify properties (and make it modify minerals) inside the if-then that already checks for what button they pressed.
Great tutorial OneTwo :)
Taking me a little longer to finish a test because I'm bad at comparing the 2 editors. lol
But It's still great! ^-^
Thanks and keep making tutorials.
Yeah sorry about that... I hope to make a new tower D tutorial in the future... especially with my new and vast knowledge + skills... I would be able to do it a lot more bug-free too.
