Picture in Picture. If I could find a way to better stabilize the 'screen' unit I could incorporate it into my overlay to allow tournaments to watch two things that are happening at once while capturing video from only one computer.
Very annoyingly. You are still looking at units, there are no dialogs in the video.
I wish I could find a better system. I have also asked about RTT in dialogs on the bnet forums in a different thread from yours...hopefully with two threads with different wording we are more likely to get a response.
What bothers me is that in the CSE the channels are 0-6 but yours are 1-7. Idk if that means anything. Plus in the trigger editor you can't set 0. Very strange.

I would love to know how to do that as well. If you find out I'll try and add it into this tutorial.
0-6 is 1-7. In m3 file they are encoded as 0-6 (none as -1). In Max and triggers they named 1-7. In cse they are 0-6 again, becuase the guy who worked on cse isn't the same guy who created that trigger or art tools plugin. There is no reason to get bothered :)
One thing I think is important. I've looked over all the briefing screens in the cutscene editor and if indeed there is no way to change what channel they connect to then you can only make cutscenes that use channels 0-2 as there appears to be no screens that render channels 3-6.
Haven't seen any of them since then, but blizz guys will definitely come to chat right after hots released, so anyone who understands anything about cutscene could ask. (I never tried to do anything in cs, so I'm not the one to ask something related).
I've experimented a bit more, and must regretfully state that the models we play within dialogs doesn't show RTT texures.
I don't know much about UI, but I think they are jsut the same as dialogs in terms of what they can and can't do. So, there is, for example, no difference between a portrait we visualize in UI or in a dialog, none would show RTT texture.
So, looks like the only way to show RTT is to create a cutscene in a dialog, and use one of the units-in-game cameras. And the later seem rather impossible (orm aybe someone cse-competent could try it?).
maybe if we could somehow duplicate the world panel and make it work then we could do that, but as far as i know that is impossible to do, and if it were possible it would only show the players camera, however you could do some really cool stuff with it.

How did you do that?
Still alive and kicking, just busy.

Are you talking about how to do it for the trigger version? Because I'm looking for the Cutscene editor version.

you can't do that in the editor the screens have preset channels.

Btw setting player 2 channel doesn't work he gets the same picture player 1 gets.

Ahhh ok that clears things up.

Damn it that sucks.
Still better than nothing as far as ingame screen doodads go. Beats the canastar ones by a mile that just show blizzcon footage over and over.

Blizz-Artestru came to chat, I asked him about Set Dialog RTT Channel action and a possibility to make dialogs display RTT channel.
He asked someone and answered: "The only way it would work is with a cutscene frame".
Does anyone know what cutscene frame is and can we use it in game?
@Zolden: Go
I think it's only possible through a cinematic scene/ frame is what he meant. Why I'm not sure could be
I don't really know just speculation
@Zolden: Go
Cutscene Frame is the version of the flash dialog item which blizzard released to custom map makers. As I recall it's currently broken.
Could you ask him about whether or not it is possible to display parts of the map happening in real time with what triggers we have now in game?

What about UI? Could custom UI incorporate them?

I would just ask an exert in UI first like Helral.

I'm confused by what the later one is. Otherwise I'd probably try it.
@Zolden: Go
oh yes forgot to mention, cutscene dialog only shows things which have been saved as cutscenes so you couldn't show real time right now.
