My DDS converter in CS3 does not work properly, sometimes like now, it says an error "Unsupported Input Format"... Sometimes, it works. Don't know why. Anyway, the other converter works.
I imported the files and i did not see alot of details from the normal map, thats why its very bright when you rotate the map , i think you have to redo the normal map in crazy bump and make a normal map that shows more detail.
To put it short: Right now the normal map is allmost 1 color i think thats the problem.
When you turn your cam around in the editor, the light is working well? For me, not at all... See for yourself :
Is there an option to deactivate Specular Lighting componets for specific textures? Your ground texture shouldn't be lit using a specular term, only ambient + diffuse lighting.
Hrm i followed the tutorial word for word, and for mayhaps reason, at the last step when i click the texture box thats circled in red on the picture a list comes up, my texture is listed but it says 'unknown' next to the texture name with no picture.
If i load the terrain anyways, it will cover my map in black, or probably its something to do with an alpha layer on the texture. I'm trying to import one of the ice tileset textures found on this site into my map.

Sorry to bump an old thread but this is the only one that I saw that shows how to import textures and something must have changed and I have no idea what I'm doing so has something changed or am I missing something obvious?
hello you dont have to answer if you dont want to editor guy. umm i cant seem to be able to import textures i have jpeg images i followed most of your directions on this thing nothig shows up what type of files do this textures have to be and if their jpeg how can i make them the rite file for importing on stc2 editor?
i get confused on this part ( ‘CTerrainTex_Texture’ and fill in the filename of the texture you want to use, including any subfolders you put the texture in, don’t forget the file extension (eg. grass.dds) and hit enter when you’re done. Now click on the field next to ‘CTerrainTex_Normalmap’ and fill in the name of the white texture. When you’re finished click save.-) i click and then it goes to object values and it shows a bunch of dds files that came with this map editor how can i add my own to match the same thing im trying to import and how do i make me one of this dds files using an image jpeg? can that be done or is their a special type of file to make dds and the file type for textures ?ooo and how do you get assets and how to add this assets? and where can i find assets to add?

what type of texture files can i use on here? what are the dds file type for and what are the difference betwen a non dds file like when i look up textures to download they come in jpeg or png i think and ive seen stuff with dds type do i need to convert my jpeg image textures do i need to edit this file type because i keep trying to import jpeg images to the texture area but i cant seem to get it to work what do i need to do to this files before i import them i followed some directions but i get stuck on a part where it says (‘CTerrainTex_Texture’ and fill in the filename of the texture you want to use) when i click on this it says add value then it shows all dds type files and i dont see the image im trying to use it has no jpeg image this dds files are from the editor so how can i add the jpeg image on to this area i have photoshop cc demo version how can i make this file in to dds how can i eddit an jpeg to be usefull in this area also this what does this mean ( ‘CTerrainTex_Normalmap’ and fill in the name of the white texture. Tonight, I'll try again to make my .DDS file. Yesterday, I had nothing new with the textures.

And I have done everything you said. Maybe with your plugin for Photoshop, it will work better...
Its hard to tell what you did wrong and if you did anything wrong..... if you can upload the files somewhere i can take a look for you if you want.
I have replaced these files with others versions, I try a lot of things, but nothing seems to change.
