I quit trying to do this on my mac haha. I uploaded it onto my windows computer and it works just fine. I was just wondering how the multiplayer feature works. Will I be able to play with anyone that has the sc2 beta installed? or will they need to have a functional bnet account?

I'll be working on an update for 10.5.x Mac OS X users soon.
Also, in order to setup multiplayer, just get everyone that wants to play into one lobby using the Extinction map, and have them all swap the same map files.
Using the mac client with OS X 10.6.3 I am unable to launch most of the single player maps available on this site. When I try Starcraft launches but after the loading bar just displays a dialog that says "Unable to load map." When I check my console I can see that Starcraft throws these errors:
6/8/10 1:34:53 PM [0x0-0x1ed2ed1].com.blizzard.starcraft2[26277] Tue Jun 8 13:34:53 shiny SC2[26277] <Error>: kCGErrorFailure: Set a breakpoint @ CGErrorBreakpoint() to catch errors as they are logged.
This does not seem to happen on the build order training maps I've tried. But happens with all the custom game maps.
I have the exact same problem and question as dukaluke. The only map I've been able to play with using this utility is the YABOT build order testers. I've tried to load a few maps, including chupung ryeong and a UMS map, the hungry baneling, along with a handful of other customs. All start to load, but when the bar finishes I get the "Unable to load map" error as well.
Does this program work with Mac OSX 10.5.8 and the most recent SC2 patch (15? i think?), with Bnet down? I've been attempting to use it but when ever I try to load a single player map, for example the YABOT lost temple map, it just does nothing. The settings are pointed to the correct app
"/Applications/StarCraft II Beta/StarCraft II.app"
Yet nothing happens whenever I try to load up the maps. So I'm just curious if I should stop trying because of OS incompatibility or the patch or with Bnet being taken down it's simply not possible. Any info you could lend would be greatly apprecaited.
no. this tool is obsolete. it only allowed people to play custom maps before battle.net allowed them by tricking the game into thinking it was loading a melee map. This only worked with battle.net up.
I'm having the same issue as a few of you here (with single player, i understand multiplayer isn't working without bnet). Whenever i try to load a build testing map it works great, but when i try to load an AI custom map such as Behemoth AI, or Mimic, I get the SC2 screen, loading bar, and then followed by a dialog box saying "Unable to load map".

That's not true. It also launches Maps locally since Mac users don't have GE.
Hi all - this seems a great tool but I'm having trouble using it.
I am on a Mac running 10.6.3 - is that the problem? I see earlier in the thread people having trouble running 10.5.
I only want to use this tool for testing build orders on my own offline. When I try to load a map I am unable to find any map files - I'm looking in the cache folders in MAPS in my Blizzard folder.
Any help gratefully received. Not being able to ply SC2 since the beta went down is killing me!

Have you tried opening the map through the map editor and test it? You can play things just like normal.
I have tried opening a map with the MapCraft application and it does open the starcraft application but then comes up with: unable to open map and takes me back to the bnet login screen.
@s3rius : Us mac users have not yet been graced with the map editor : ) Only PC beta users were able to use it as far as I'm aware.
I would still like someone with some know to answer the original question of like 4 of us above. This app opens the YABOT custom maps just fine, yet seems unable to open a custom map from anywhere else. It shows the loading screen, but then errors out to a "Unable to Load Map" notice, then redirects to the login page.
Spot on Dukaluke! Thank you very much for pointing that thread out. I had the maps in a folder on my desktop. Moved them to the apps folder under SC2 and they load just fine!

They have to be able to login to Battle.net, :/.
@Sixen: Go
oh boo. so they'd need to have a beta acc?
assuming they did have one, how would i set it up?

It's only possible to all get into the same lobby by having a beta account right? =\
@TheDarkness127: Go
Yes, that's correct.

Nice! Can't wait for that then!! Thanks so much Motiveme!

Here's an example of a working map: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/yabot/
And a problematic map: http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/station-assault/
Please let me know if I can provide any further info that would be helpful.
Thanks.

Not quite sure what you mean there - sorry.

It looks like the issue can be worked around by moving the maps out of the Downloads folder.
See this post on Team Liquid: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=130932
I moved my maps to /Documents/Blizzard/Starcraft II Beta/Maps and from there I can load all the ones I've tried.
I don't think there's anything special about that folder. It's just moving them out of system folders that's important.
Hope that helps the rest of you.

Fixed the issue with 10.5.x. See the main asset page for 1.5.
