I would absolutely LOVE you if you made the plugin for blender as I don't have access to any other 3D software, and I have plans for a map featuring the Soul Hunter (the scrapped protoss unit from beta) and since I haven't seen any word from blizzard that they plan on realeasing that model in the near future, I decided to make it myself, but alas, this is impossible without an exporter script.
Selfishly, I say go for Blender because most people (me) can't afford 3DS Max legally.
On the other hand, better to stick with 3DS Max for now until you get all the kinks worked out and it's fully functional, that way you won't have to figure out a completely new way of doing it for Blender at the same time as the entire project is still unfinished :/
I reckon you should do Maya because im lazy and cant be bothered exporting then importing my model into max. So much effort.Meh nah finish your max one lol. Also I bet it will be another year or so till Bliz release a exporter for Max. More people use Max than blender :/
Also why cant blender people export from blender then import into Max? Its not that hard :<
Maybe because they 1) don't have the system requirements for max and/or
If you can run Starcraft 2 you're already meeting and exceeding max's requirements.
If you can't run SC2 then why should it matter to make models in blender or not?
I dare say that if you can run blender you'd be able to just use max as an exporter.
Not being able to afford it is the only reasonable excuse for people not to use 3ds max.
A large fact about modding is that modellers can be hard to come across. If we can get a blender plugin it would mean that anyone can attempt to make models without being forced to spend £3k or so, or pirate it. Of course, this shouldn't mean you should completly give up on the 3DS max plugins, but try to devote a little bit of time to each :).
Lol at the not being able to run Max thing.... Why would Blender be any better....

But yeah fair enough about the cost. Just thought everyone's a pirate now :/ Sort of Auto Desks fault for charging 1000$ for 1 person... like that price makes sense if a company buys it and makes money off Auto-desks product.. However for someone who doesn't use it for commercial use... Doesn't really make sense to me. Id defiantly buy it if it was 300$ for a non commercial copy.
Yeah you know how to pirate it? Wanna help me out? I have blender but I'm not too into paying 1000 to make some starcraft models. I tried one version but it didn't work.
Sorry guys, at the moment I'm swamped with uni work to be able to undertake this project properly. When my next holidays come up I will try to dedicate some time to create some tools for blender as it's showing pretty large support. I'd like to add a few more features to the 3ds Max version of the plugins, but for the most part they're working pretty well.
Who the heck voted for "other"??? lol
Give it up 3dsMax-users! ;P
LOL! WOW! That's a bit of a jump! Didn't max have 16 before though?
I would be very interested in helping to achieve this (here is my "résumé" ;P)

when do you plan on making a decision on this??

When I start on the blender plugins, the help would be appreciated. I've never coded in python so it might be a bit rough starting out.
OK lets be real here.
Where does autodesk gets its money ? From companies, game developers, commercial developers...
Sure not from regular people xD .
Tho I am not sure if you guyz should write piracy related things, and support it over forums; here, publicly.
Do it privately if any.
SC2mapster does not endorse it in anyway, to my knowledge.
That means if you do it, shhh.

I have no recalection (did I spell that right?) of what you're talking about. I simply asked for help, I didn't ask for anything pirated.

Theres is always a trial version for max that you can get off their website : ]
