With the advent of the new Smashcraft Legends map coming soon, I'll be releasing the "API" and mod to the public so players can build their own Smashcraft game modes and maps! This will integrate trigger actions and libraries to quickly make a map using the infamous Smashcraft hero roster, including 24 robust and exciting hero characters each with unique playstyles.
You create the rules, you make the terrain, the Smashcraft engine does the rest! Smashcraft TD? Go for it. Hero survival? Go for it! The possibilities are endless. You build completely off the core library of the mod itself.
Look forward to the API release, as well as Smashcraft Legends: Capture the Flag official map to be released by November 2011. Competitive SC2 custom maps will never be the same, keep your eyes open.
i remember you trolling a lot of maps mephs, but your personal talent gives you the right to. what i'm saying is that i would completely understand if you said that my maps were total garbage, and i'd smile and agree.
Will you remove the ripped material and/or are you going to continue to implicitly take credit for them? I know that you obviously don't care about such things, and neither does others. But you should at least have the courtesy of giving credits, (despite it being intellectual property).
I know the map has been live for a long time, played a dozens, and even got featured by certain Blizzard employees. Still, it's a violation against the ToU (see section 12A and 12D for instance. You give them rights you don't have the authority to give.)
Other than that, sounds like a good idea to boost the modding community of your mod. Good luck! Maybe that will also bring you up towards popularity again, if that's one of your indirect goals :)

If you mean the music and announcer VOs most of that will not have a presence in the new maps, though I might rip music from elsewhere instead :P
Obviously Blizzard cares about copyright infringement here. I mean featuring the map and all.
Kind of odd that you bring this up. The NA community of smashcraft is dead. At least from what I've seen in the channel. I actually did like the game, I think it actually helped my micro a bit in melee matches. I can only assume you're releasing the api because you're done with sc2 mapping, are you? It also seems like you got this idea for legends after Dogmai and Dreyece said they were going to do Tofu and TMA, which TMA is a bunch of random little game modes.
Very nice of you mephs. Im not really interested on it though. I want to create my own stuff, but perhaps I will take a look since I could probly learn a lot from it.
hopefully we will see some awesome smash maps! :)
OH AND...make a tutorial for those protoss sound styles and zerg styles too? that would be so awesome...I tried to do it myself (im not native english speaker so it becomes hard to do it with protoish style :( ), but still I would like to try if I knew how....
Smashcraft Arena died on NA, it doesn't mean there's no room for a new and improved game spinoff from it though. Hence the point of Smash Legends.
And really, TOFU is not doing anything unique by introducing game modes that are by all means the most original things I've ever heard of in the gaming world. I mean CTF? Deathmatch? Whoa, cool it with the creativity guys.
(No hate on Dogmai, just saying).
The smash community has been asking about the possibility of 5v5, CTF, survival modes, and a DOTA spinoff since the release of Arena. I'm not finished with Smashcraft, it's going to evolve into a new game with the release of Smashcraft Legends and the API is just going to add some modder support if anyone desires it.
Ever wanted to make a mod... for a mod?

The original Smashcraft's 2.0 teaser video, for you uncool blokes who have never heard.

Smashcraft CTF?
Sounds like a blast =D
Awesome Idea Mephs.
More details of what to expect in Legends can also be found in the above subforum.
Basic quick rundown of what's changing about the new Smash:
5v5
Respawning
Multiple game modes
Etc.
The game mechanics will remain (mostly) the same, but with many new dynamics.
Hate to say this but it sounds awefully familar to something you beta tested ...

Umm... I think that's taking it a bit far. Trolling is not the same as constructive criticism :P
Yeah I know, Warsong Gulch.
How much did it hurt to say that?
Good luck. I'm basically doing the same thing with Power Level Overwhelming, just no API.
