I have a dialog system for my upgrades. At the moment it is looking quite well... Im still a bit confused on how to have different textures on them, but right now, thats not a priority.
I was wondering... Should I have a totally custom UI? I mean the only thing that the player needs is the Attack button and a Cloak button, then another button when the player finds the SCV.
Any way, the current upgrades I have are:
Cloak (20 Minerals, Cloak Enabled, 1 Maximum Upgrade)
Energy Regen (5 Minerals, 0.01 Increase, 30 Maximum Upgrades)
Life Regen (5 Minerals, 0.01 Increase, 30 Maximum Upgrades)
Max Energy (5 Minerals, 5 Increase, 20 Maximum Upgrades)
Max Life (5 Minerals, 1 Increase, 15 Maximum Upgrades)
Max Damage (5 Minerals, 1 Increase, 5 Maximum Upgrades)
Research Shields (10 Minerals, 15 Shields, 0.35 Shield Regen 1 Maximum Upgrade, 1:00 Minute Research Time, 1 Player at a Time)
Speed Upgrade (15 'Orange' Minerals, 0.023 Increase, 30 Maximum Upgrades)
Now Im at a stand still in my project. I obviously dont want to use the default UI, so Ill change that later. But what about Special Upgrades? At the moment I only have 2 of them. What else should I have for the Special Upgrades?
Terrain and Objectives
Now my Terrain is not so good at the moment, but its not a priority.
I have 2 objectives:
Find the SCV
Kill the Target
Everyone Must Survive
Now obviously the third one is not impossible to accomplish but people will make mistakes so there will be revive points through out the map.
Find the SCV is a bonus quest and will allow you to have special upgrades.
And theres Kill the Target. The target is a Colonist (something different in each mission) and you must find and kill the target without getting yourself killed.
Well I have a custom UI now, I have a mini-command bar at the bottom of the screen that has different abilites depending on what is selected.
E.G. If you have an enemy selected there will be an attack command, making your Assassin attack that target.
If you have your Assassin selected there are two buttons, Cloak and Attack. Cloak will cloak your Assassin (if you have researched it) and Attack will allow you to select a target.
Terrain and Objectives
Well, the Terrain is coming along nicely, about 3-quaters of it is covered. More trees, more badies, the usual.
I added some Respawn Points in which all of the alive Assassin's must stand on the beacon to revive all KIA Assassins. Respawn Points can only be used once.
Objectives. Before I didn't have the objectives update when I had they were completed but now they do. When you find the SCV it completes the 'Find the SCV' mission and gives you another Bonus Objective: Build a Drop-Off Point. When you build a Drop-Off Point it completes the objective. Same with the Target, when he dies then the Objective will be updated.
Possible Ideas
When you kill the Target the mission ends... I was thinking about having a Dropship come and pick you up in about 10 minutes or so... In that time you must survive... All Respawn Points are working again, one use only... Now while you are trying to survive, wave after wave of enemies come after you depending on the difficulty selected at the begining (another very possible feature) they will range anywhere between 35-90 enemies per wave. There will be 5 waves depending on if your Assassins kill all the enemies within that wave... also some enemies will just stand around, so you have to hunt them down so you can move on to the next wave, if you do not do this then the next wave will be twice-quadrouple the size.
Alright
Thats all for now,
Ill keep you updated, XDret
