Hello everyone! Some of you may remember a while back when I was posting images of a Hybrid mod. I wish this was a thread announcing the mod but unfortunately it's not. I'm pretty much walking away from it.
The amount of work involved and my unsatisfaction with the Hybrid/Xel'Naga story arc in Void has killed my drive to complete this. I plan on releasing all of the assets in a map file soon. The reason I'm posting here is to see if anyone wants to continue the mod. My involvement would pretty much cease aside from suggestions, but I had a general concept for the race.
For the most part the unit design would fill in missing Brood War units. For instance the queen, dark archon, reaver and dragoon concepts would be the base design for some units. There would also be a mechanical element to the Hybrids for some units and buildings. Some of the buildings are pretty far along as well. The stasis cell shows a Hybrid being made as you build.
At any rate let me know if there is any interest in this and I'll pack it together and upload. Maybe even other Hybrid race mods or campaigns can use this.
These are amazing models! I am so sad that the project is not going to continue though. Just wondering did you make the SCU hybrid models? If so Will you be releasing them too?

Stranded on Krydon Renewed- A renewed version of Stranded on Krydon that is being constantly updated, has improved visuals, is more friendly to new players, lots more fun tweaks and much more planned to come.
It's a shame you wanna walk away from it, though. I was going to propose we all work on a rewrite of the SC2 story. And I mean everyone...You, Gradius, Avex, Gna, CybrosX, and so on...
I didnt realize you were creating this Ghost. You might get inspiration to know I'm making a "Khaydarin Wars" storyline. A conflict between Xel'Naga and a rival race, almost demonic, similar to your designs.

I saw some of your Xel'Naga stuff which looks great. I assumed it was for a regular StarCraft story but that sounds pretty cool. If anything I made can be used that would make me happy. I put a lot of time into this stuff so I'm glad if it's not wasted.
Yes they all do. A couple have attachment issues but the majority are full and complete models. You can actually play a slightly older version of the mod on battle.net. Just search "hybrid negative" in custom games and it'll come up.
I should also make a note to everyone that this doesn't mean I'm leaving or anything. I'm just choosing to no longer pursue this specific project anymore.
I think that this also stop your fantomatic campaign from being developed, great models as expected from you, what exactly you didn't like about the xel'naga arc? It was not so bad, not great, but still not a complete disaster, yeah Amon was a bad villain (at least he tried to be interesting) and the retcons were heavy but i still enjoyed it a bit...
As ambassador for Revenants aka the "Hybrid Collaboration Project", I'd like to initially say for our team that we're sorry you couldn't finish your project, but perhaps we can fully take up the mantle for you. We also aren't planning to use any of these assets, most of them don't fit into our plans and we've already got a lot built. This is only our initial impression and the full team hasn't made a decision yet, but this is our first thoughts. We might consider using some of the assets later down the road, so if you can keep available until we give a real answer, we'd really appreciate that.
I personally am not too happy with how the hybrid worked in the starcraft 2 campaigns, but that's what our project aimed to resolve. When the idea was first conceived in the requests thread, I saw a huge opportunity for a way to make the hybrid way more interesting, a story that takes place after amon is dead and the dominion is out to eliminate every last one of them. You can see where we approach this idea with the awakening (our first mission) and we hope to continue to add to this idea for many missions to come.
Anyhow, even if we don't use any of these models, maybe we could collaborate sometime, who knows. Good luck on your future projects and I hope to see you around.

We talked about those units and structures a few times, maybe some of those were my suggestions I don't remember anymore, and your project kept me interested in working with the hybrid as a race. As a modeler for Revenants I tried to keep our units different from yours in appearance, even though some of them fill similar roles. I thought I'd see both projects released at some point and be able to check their differences and similarities (not exactly compare).
I'm sure mapster community will find use for these and your hybrids will pop around in different projects even if they don't as a unified race.
OK it seems like there would definitely be some use for it so I'll go ahead and upload it to the maps section this weekend. Thanks for all the support guys!
It's just my opinion, but I feel like he doesn't fit in StarCraft. SC1 and BW did not point towards what happened with the Hybrid and Xel'Naga. They even said the Xel'Naga arc and design of what it would look like was never worked on until they started doing LoTV.
That's one of the reasons I abandoned this project. It was my way of fixing things in SC2 to be closer to the original style, but LoTV made it impossible. That's why I started from the ground up on my classic mod. To get that same classic feel I had in the original games everything must go as far as SC2. Like I said it's just my opinion but I want the projects I work on to honor the original.

Yeah a few designs made it in there. I don't remember much but there was a disagreement on the buildings being Xel'Naga if I'm not mistaken. It's good you have a different vision for the Hybrids though. Otherwise all the modelers here would just be hashing out the same looking units lol. Your commentary and help was always appreciated man. At any rate it doesn't seem like the models will go to waste so it's not a complete loss.
Considering how little progress was made It can be reconstituted. The google doc with the ideas still exists. All the data assets I made are still functional.

Yes I did the majority of the models while I was on the SCU team. Releasing the asssets is up to Kreation. I made most of them specifically for SCU.
