wow this project looks awesome, a fourth SC race??!!?!?!
any way, if custom sound effects(like unit response and the like) are needed for this, then i can do it. im not very experienced in the galaxy editor (yet)
but i am majoring in sound design (hoping to get an internship at blizzard thats why im learning galaxy editor) any way
im semi-professional and it would be tons of fun for me ;)
If you need help with the editor, just look at the wiki. For anything data related just ask me or one of the other sc2mapster mentors. With triggers, I cannot help you but there are several good triggerers out there.
Any custom sounds would be appreciated if they sound metallic or digital.

I once used a dicatation program for word and it said my voice was unusable. I am smart but voice wise am no Liberachi.
Still not bad sounds although my only criticism is to watch the difference in amplitides between parts so that it is not inaudible in places and then suddenly deafening.
I could always attempt to come up with some of the dialogs they say.
Ok. Lots to say since I've only been checking the data thread and kinda 4ot bout this one :)
So here I go.
For the zerg being bland, agreed. I wish they made the funny sounds/dialog into the normal one's, juts==st cuase they're funny :)
For the robotic sounds, I would think that they would be a little bit shorter then that, unless we can split up each sounds, and use them as the "yes" and "move" sounds, and all the other one's. For the talking thing, I don't expect all of the robots to talk. I was thinking it would be kind of like the protoss. Some units talk, others make random bleeps and boops and other wierd noises. Anyways, I like the sounds, and it could come into some great use.
For tutorials, OneTwoSC saved me, and he can save you too. He has a ton of brilliant, and amazing tutorials on youtube. I believe he has threads as well? Anyways, he allowed me to continue map making into sc2, and I didn't know 1 simple thing about the editor, but now i do. (Sadly, not an expert, barely average, but I'm still learning.) So yea, check out those tutorials.
For that T2 morphing stuff, I think we should have more variety. I don't think we should have all of the T1 units form into 1 T2 unit. (Or at least, that's what I read, although it was a little confusing to follow) I think we should have different, smaller units that form from maybe 2 t1 units.
So for example: Scout and crazyhorse morph into unit A. Then the clanker and, I forget the name of the other unit, morphs into unit B. Or something along those lines.
Ok. That was alot. Comment if u wish. Sorry, I kinda had to rush. Also, sorry for making this so long

But just for balance, we should make sure a morphed unit should at least be able to be a challance for the components that made it. Like if a SCU and Scout fuse, the combo should be able to kill an enemy SCU and Scout,

I agree. I was just thinking that it shouldn't be all put into one unit. I don't think we need to worry about which unit is morphed, and all of that stuff... yet. By the way, an scu and scout maybe could kill it, depending on the stats of the morphed unit. However, it would have more life, and dps per mineral. Well, that's what I would think would be balanced.
Well with the scout that is low damage while the clanker is more of a low damage high tanking unit so it might not be easily able to single handedly win 1v2, it would certainly be able to take the damage while a lower hp higher damage unit does so from a distance.
Also you are forgetting about indivisual weaknesses eg. the immortal is not super effective against mass marines despite the high cost and good shields.
And you guys need to keep in mind a standard limitation of Merge abilities: If you give the ability to more than 1 unit type, the player can use any combination of 2 units to merge. So if both the Scout and the Clanker have this ability, the player can use 2 Scouts, 2 Clankers or 1 Scout and 1 Clanker to merge.
And I said 'standard' because we can work on it and try to find a workaround.
That... sucks from an artistic point of view. As I had the thought that the merged units would look merged, like you could see the two origonal units still, but as one.
True, King Tiger tanks are hard to outshine.

yeah well i would makem from scratch based on the concept art and free sound databases
ps:u will probably be getten some pms from me =)
If anyone has a sound editting program, I could record my own voice and someone could make it sound machine-like.
That is another thing. These guys should most definately talk.
The game sounds kinda bland when playing as the zerg, because none of them talk.
No, that is just because the zerg dont make many different sounds. They all use minor variations of the same group of sounds

i actually replaced the sc2 sounds with the broodwar sounds for zerg (manly sound pack) because it was so bland
@atiklyar that would be me, i have the sound software and equipment (and skills) ;)
Borg/Cyclon/Darlek/Terminator voices/lines anyone?

the sounds were drafts i didnt spend much time cause we havent decided on a style of sound yet (talk or no talk)
dialogs would always be nice

There already is a merge workaround. Just look up the consume build (WDE #19) and puke-a-lisk threads in the data forum.
