I think the plot and game element works extremely well for a ORPG, at least for those who played the game.
It's a PS3 Exclusive, and it involves a lot of PvE and PvP.
Main features is:
- Dying isn't the end, ratther than game over and etc, you continue on in Soul form, but you lose all your Souls (currency and xp) you've collected.
- To reclaim souls, you have to replay that world that you've died in, and fight against the monsters that respawned.
- You can also become a [Black Phantom] and hunt other players that are in body or soul forms.
- [Blue Phantoms] are those who died but is summoned by a Body formed player, to assist them for that one world, and one world only.
Sc2 differences and goals:
What if it doesn't follow the game, but uses the same ideas?
It'll have body and soul forms for all players to use, it'll retain blue and black phantoms, and have a core combat system designed like Warcraft 3 heroes, except with an emphasis on damage and hitting.
Items and weapons can be retained from Demons Souls, including cling ring and thief ring.
The biggest difference, is that it isn't a single player game with multiplayer function, it'll be a game that have players compete to gain as much souls and demon's souls as possible, before the game timer ends or before the final boss is killed.
With players helping and killing each other, it brings about some interesting aspect... Kinda like that SC1/WC3 map (Kings and Knights?) where players play as kings and mercs to determine how they win the battle, by bribing or etc..
The only thing is, I do know that items like cling ring (which increases soul form max hp by 50%) is possible with normal formulas, but it is when you have thief ring that cloaks you from players and monsters from a further range (lowers monster's aggro radius, and makes user cloaked to other "enemy" players at a certain distance).
