Nice looking boss fight. I especially like the bouncing back the yamato cannon blast. Although maybe next time instead of voicing the video, just put some text with some cool music. Nothing against you, but you make the map sound kinda plain with just your boring tone :P Gotta be more exciting! Otherwise, just stick to music + text (since it IS hard to be exciting in a video like that).
Its most surprising how my style in commenting things is affecting people.. i had people PMing me on my other commentarys, telling me how odd it sounds that i comment my games in such a low/plain voice, no shouting, no emotion, while other congratulate me on how objective I am, keeping my voice low and simply commenting the action without unnecessary shouting.. I take it you are right though, especially when confronted with an international audience in a contest, i should try to use some generic music.. i most probably wouldnt even win with the best map ever because so many people dislike my way of commenting the map -.-
I had created this a little while ago as a test project. It includes some features that aren't evident on the surface.
For Example: Agro levels on all the units (they remember who's causing them the most grief and attack that target)
Which is done by Giving all Targets an ID, then Adding all damage to a unit's Custom score Index #(ID), Then running a function to determine what of that array is the highest, and making the target attack that one.
This boss has 3 phases.
During the first phase, every 3 seconds, the two boss parts (Body and Base) will perform a move. Both have a standard attack... The Body can be tanked anywhere, but the Base needs to be tanked from a range or it will attack a random target if the primary agro target is beyond it's minimum range. The Base can also shoot a stunning shot, or a Flame thrower attack. The Body can also shoot a barrage that paralyzes the target for the duration of the attack. Also during all phases, Dropships will arrive that will drop off Reapers that will run around the battlefield and engage anything they find... The dropship can be dealt with before it gets to the dropoff point. There are also two Generators next to the boss that will respawn after a while when destroyed. One increases the Dmg of the boss, the other Make the boss nearly invulnerable to attack.
In phase two, the rate of dropships being deployed increases, and the Base gains the ability to call in a Mule to come repair the boss... They land randomly and move slowly towards the boss. Also the Body obtains a missile attack which launches a missile at a spot, which is highlighted for you to avoid.
During the last phase, the boss begins to attack in overdrive. And you have to kill the base and body within 30 seconds of each other, otherwise one will rebuild the other.
Can I only post the boss triggers? Because my map has many triggers that I'm not going to release unprotected...
I suppose that the trigger interesting the community for this contest are boss AI and abilities

Yeah, the aim of the contest is the boss itself. You can remove all the other stuff :)
So the character will be a simple stupid marine instead of my kicking-ass sidescroller marine with flamethrower and grenades :D
No jumping, no phisics, etc. Is that ok?
Obviously I will record the video using the full map with all those cool things :D

LOL. Of course its not the same. Why do you even think it would be allowed to post video of some other map that isnt the same on the video....
Yes, but you should be presenting us with the same thing you are giving us. I could easily go record an epic boss fight that isn't my own in another map and say....Hey i just removed some of the stuff i wanted to keep secret. I know that you probably aren't going to be doing that, but the aim is to learn from everything. Someone may watch your video and want to learn how you did the stuff you didn't put in the map you submitted and that would defeat the purpose of learning. (which is the primary purpose of these contests)
There's definitely valid points for and against sharing the entirety of your work, and I respect that Bibendus doesn't want to release his engine so that a thousand mockups pop up overnight. However, I'd suggest just trying to make your out-of-context boss fight as fun as possible even if it means sprucing up a throw-away hero a little. What I wouldn't suggest is making a video of a version of the fight that won't be publicly available. People can play your actual map to experience that.
Personally, I think Bibendus would be fine posting just the Boss AI, as that's the point of this contest, not the player units. Yeah, we won't be able to play HIS MAP without the engine, but the point of this contest isn't to be able to play the map, but to learn from different people different ways of making bosses and their AI's.
I also agree with thommiej, as I only have a couple hours left today of free time and there's no way my boss is going to be complete by the deadline. =[=[ I'll finish him one way or another though, even if he doesn't get into the contest.
Better then sending nothing because the rules are too strict, don't u think?
Personally I look at all these premade entries and think no, I'm just going to let this one pass.
It feels like cheating to me. I felt terrible after the cutscene contest because my entry was against entries that had obviously been worked on for a lot longer than the thing I threw together in a few hours. There were people saying that other videos should have won, and frankly, I agree with them. If the prize had been anything meaningful I'd have given it up to the other entrants. However they should've never been allowed to enter in the first place with content they designed before the contest.
Please don't take this as a whine post to get these contests done the way I want. That isn't what I'm saying. I'm just responding to your quote of "Is sending premade work better than sending nothing?" In my opinion, it isn't.

I'll throw up what I put together here. I only got started using the editor a few days ago, so it's not exactly a clean execution.

Because the boss fight is a mix between the boss AI and the beat em up engine I did and that I can't release...

And how is not player skills related to boss fight? if there is fighting system of course its related to the boss fight.
If you want to only post the boss fight, without your gameplay mechanics, then add a marine or something and make video out of that.
He said the aim is the boss not the unit abilities...

Please give us some more time! :'( just like the previous contest. I have much to do and i dont want to bungle it.

Yes, a couple more day would be helpful. My boss is ready but I'm trying to make it more graphically appealing with good effects ;)
Edit.
And a bit of time to copy the boss triggers in a new standalone map :)
@Bibendus: Go
A few more days would be great - my boss can just look good & spawn units at the moment xP Even the normal attack doesn´t work right
