I present to the world of Starcraft, the first version (0.1) of Zillion Zerglings.
In this Melee-esque game, you will defend from an infinite onslaught of zillions of zerglings. Each level will begin after a timed preperation period. The faster a level is finished, the more minerals you will be given. Recommended Players: 1-14
I like to work on things at my leisure, so please be patient concerning improvements and fixes.
Changes (Not A Complete List):
Team killers will now be given a warning upon their first team kill (this unit will be refunded unlike self-killed units).
Talents added to counter exponential changes in difficulty.
1. gas costs are to high for hallucination.
2. gas hog does like nothing... ??
3. the 10th wave is the most boring evar for the spawn is way to low
4. the 12th or 13 th wave is kinda the killer the spawn rate is much to high.
Can you add tweaks and systems into the game so it doesn't have like 1000 zerglings on the map at one time?
And avoid plain upgrading the zerglings, it makes certain units obsolete, just make the zerglings come in unique varieties.
Like the green zergling, nasty bastards who poison biological units on hit, causing -1 defense.
Pink zerglings are cute but evil kinds who tries to charm your units into stop attacking.
Yellow zerglings love to burrow and move under you.
Kind of like that, so the models are always zerglings, but differentiated by colors so you know what's there.
You may have to modify their skin so they are completely colored in the right color, so you don't see 1 unit with a mix of colors.
Well, I'm off this map. Since update it aint fun anymore.
Upgrades are now permanent. So everyone keeps upgrading armor. At some point you will deal 1 damage. And that TAKES LONG TIME = boring.
If you take attack speed, then its gets just plain stupid how fast they attack, same for damage. So its frustrating.
Hi, this was the most fun map I have ever played for a while. Realy nice map.
But it is not finished...
- in later waves, it begins to lag heavily even though there are not many zerglings (memory bug?)
- protoss needs Nexus to build units!! Terran does not need to build the main, so protoss is in a disadvantage here
- zerg ... can't teamplay because you can't build with a zerg as protoss terran.
-Upgrades!! If those zerglings can be upgraded to imbaness, give more upgrades for the players.. or make them cheaper or same cost for all level upgrades, because the zergings strength increases so heavily (upgrade + number + spawnrate) while u are getting only a same amount ofminerals between rounds.
The map is kinda unique and fun till about the tenth wave. After that it's basiclly just go afk for 10 minutes because there are too many lings that need to spawn before you can do anything, and it lags like hell.
Allow building on creep
Remove Nexus/CC requirements
Sieging up tanks takes ridiculous amounts of gas which is impossible to get. I seriously dont get that. i was at wave 10 and only built a siege tank, eng bay, PFs which dont cost gas anyway, researched siege mode, and i didnt even have half the gas to siege up...
Some upgrades still have their original costs, like protoss air weapons. no one will be able to afford 100 gas upgrades...
constantly upgrading lings isnt that good. Up to now all that can actually live very long is mass PF...
make more variety in lings and dont make waves that spawn over 1-2k lings because they take too long and give players more money so that games can actually progress further and still be fun
I completely forgot about this thread, because I didn't get as many immediate replies as in Team Liquid.
But let me discuss the things that have been mentioned.
Siege Tanks should have been fixed. They weren't supposed to cost that much gas. The few crazy upgrades have been fixed also.
I plan to add buildings on creep as soon as possible. It seems to be a difficult problem.
Removing Nexus and CC requirements is just silly. If I did this, I would give everyone 400 less minerals. I think there are better strategies than mass planetary fortress. I think different varieties might be interesting (maybe someone could give me a well thought-out layout of different types of zerglings); I would consider this.
I appreciate the criticism.
I added support for 8 players in a recent update. Check it out. :)
-A) some players are annoying you (kids) with setting their buildings on YOU, so you cant do anything anymore, you cant attack him nothing. I think there should be an option that "ups" the a terran building if it is flying on you. AND OR add an option that does not allow your allies to build on you (your buildings and your units). I know it is the gameplay but there are realy alot of dudes out there that annoy you and abuse this gameplay. So just give an option, that u can use for 5 seconds if someone annoys you.
-B) Add "Sell" when the round hasn't started yet, because sometimes you build on another player unwanted which his bad, or someone can sell his building when you don't want it there Or when you use A). The gameplay requires a sell for the one round, imo!
2 players can beat this game, Terran + Zerg. Tho you have to leave your PC over night...
The game is full with bugs and glitches. I mean why spawning so many zerglings so everyone pc will lagg ? Is that your way of calling it fun ? Its not.
Tons of units are useless like siege tanks, that will area attack and game will kick you. Even if you didnt damage your ally on purpose. Really friendly system.
People are usually short with their resources. Its not fun to them. Trading should be allowed, resource management should be changed.
All buildings and units should be rework so all units can have some purpose.
Placing buildings on each others can be ok, buts its plain messy...
I admit, this map is really fun, it really is. But its sad that you have to go AFK to beat it. Or tab into windows coz game laggs.
Adding some more units besides zerglings and overlords would be ok also.
You can notice that popularity dropped down from few last updates, as I said. Now its a bit improved, but still. I see some major glitches that arent fixed from patch to patch, and I wont be posting the on Team Liquid.
Well, I didn't know of this map until I tested it today... It was, well... kind of weird, because I'm not a good player in melee (I'm not even sure I know the counters for each unit, or even all the hotkeys!). I play Protoss 98% of the time and my Nexus was destroyed almost every round, I tried adding a forge+pylon to add photons but it was obviously not the best strategy. I realized later that you can build things over your Nexus and tech tree requirements were changed. There were players with me though, who knew the map and spent all their time building spine crawlers behind their hatchery. Protoss players used their sentries to block paths, and that's pretty much all there was. So basically, I guess it gets kind of boring after 10+ games... It's obviously designed for enhanced players (those stupid guys who have nothing to say except "u noob... press skip" 10 times in a row), but they get bored too easily because there are exploits (exploits are powers/strategies that will work 100% of the time by taking minimal risk -if not no risk at all-). That's something you should just avoid at all cost if you want the gameplay to be fun. So far, as the noob I am, I didn't enjoy the map much, but I'm pretty sure I could apply the same strategy as the other guys and there will be no fun in it anyway. Sorry, it's definitely not my kind of game... :/
