we added a newbie mode in which marines are buffed, enemies are handicapped and achievements and xp gain are severely reduced. The purpose is to allow new players to survive longer and understand the game mechanics better.
THE HOST OF THE GAME must type "-newbiemode" within the first minute of gameplay to initiate this mode. If successfully done you will see a yellow text message stating that newbie mode is on.
We're in the era of Starcraft II where cool dialog buttons and all the fancy stuff are available to us and you STILL use text commands?
I understand it for stuff like -m which you have to type out fast, but wouldn't it better to simply show a small dialog to the host asking if he wants newbie mode at the beginning of the game?
You could even first calculate the experience of all players and when you see that there are a lot of low xp guys in the game then you let the dialog box pop up.
New players might not even see the info that tells them about newbiemode (I don't know where you're writing info about it, but it's no use if it's somewhere in the Tips&Tutorials section and even at game start you can easily overlook some text).
That's like those Sc1 mappers who switched to Sc2. They still use units and circles of power to be able to turn stuff on and off. The archaic ways of Sc1. Like they just traded Sc1 for another Sc1 with better graphics.
What happens is that the game is set automatically to newbie mode if certain conditions are met (such as more then half of the players have less then 10 games played, and total exp of team is less then 1k per each).
The -newbiemode command exists for veterans, in case they decide to play with newbies so even if the game is not automatically set to newbie mode (because a vet is likely to have a lot of exp), it can still be forced.
Also newbies (<10 plays) automatically get a help-window open, on game start, with various tips they can navigate through, one of the mentioning this command, or atleast mentioning where it can be found (f12menu)
I think this combo to be rather elegant, but if people still find it hard I`m open to suggestions.
we have added a new game mode called "FLUFFY HUNT" selectable by the host from the lobby screen.
For those of you who played notd2 or notdso in war3 you should be familiar with the concept. You start and have 15 mins to explore the map and collect items and pick a position to defend. You will only be level 2 maximum during the actual fight. When the timer ends 30 slashers/devourers are released to kill you. Survive the fluffies and you earn special achievements related to them. There are 3 achievements for Fluffy Hunt Mode.
Park Rampage mode has been added, along with many new changes.
Park Rampage will offer you a change of pace should you need to take a break from regular gameplay. As with fluffy hunt, select the mode from lobby before starting. Various achievements can be earned in this mode.
Added bootcamp mode for newbies. As with the other modes, it can be selected by host from lobby.
Bootcamp will allow you to familiarize yourself with the UI and teach you basic tactics.
Malky the map doesnt start we cant get past that rotting corpse. (however starts fine in singleplayer, possible that one of latest patches broke a trigger)
Could you please fix it.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:
Our map name has changed!! The new name is
"Night of the Dead Spec Ops"
the old name was "NotD: Spec Ops". The colon (:) in the name was disabling replay saves.
For the moment, both maps are still hosted on US server. The NotD named version will be removed from the server soon.
