I played SMB Wii a few days ago and this gave me the idea to do SMB maps with the GE.
My idea was to support 2 players and create different World/Levels like in the real Super Mario Bros.
If you don't know Super Mario Bros. (Wii) look at this video:
I already put together some simple physics triggers and some other things (jumping, killing creeps, movement etc.)
Now I'm searching for some guys to take part in my project to make perfect SMB maps :) Currently I need: a good GUI'er to make a bit harder triggers, guys who want to make other smaller things (loadingscreen etc.)
If u want to take part in it, just post here (ICQ, MSN or Skype would be great)
Maybe I'll attach the map later...
(If somebody has got any copyright problems with the project, I'll change it's name etc.)
I tought to something like that but I suppose there is a huge problem.
I mean the ability to walk on different platform heights, I really don't know how this can be achieved with the galaxy editor.
Can you imagine playing SMB with 150-200ms latency? It's a nice idea and multiple height levels are very easy to handle for a 2D platformer but the latency between input will make the game unplayable.

I've got someone for the UI now and shaotang will take part in the map too
(when he has finished his own map, I think ;P)
I would still need a very good GUI'er...please PM me or write a reply here if you want to take part in the project, too ^.^

Small suggestion.....
You could easily set the height of a unit depending on the point, maybe... But look at this as an example...

Thats why you limit it to only a small amount of blocks, there is only about 14 blocks there, absolutely no lag whatsoever.
I've also made a Jump n' Run tech-demo called "Super Paper Hydralisk" based on Super Paper Mario for the Wii. That was kind of a good game.
Without AD-controls I wouldn't have lags on Bnet. The map is uploaded in EU, too.
You mean, like this? :). I don't think he ever finished it, it'd be awesome to play.
