I was hoping to get a bit of feedback and input from the Card Games fans, who like playing that particular genre in SC2 maps.
Regarding the new Blizzard Dota, the Hero Selection, I was thinking of doing something similar for deck choices in my map. Specifically the way they classified Heroes with Attack / Health / Abilities / Speed. I thought this way a great way to give players an immediate overview of the Heroes strengths and weaknesses.
What types of categories do you think Decks could be rated? I'm mainly thinking MTG style game play and those type of decks. I've been brainstorming a few ideas, I'll just listen them all, I'd imagine 3-4 would be ideal. These could be rated 1-10:
Beatdown - How fast the deck in general is in getting units/spells out. Of course special tricks and abilities within the deck to speed it up would be taken into account.
Control - How well the deck can manipulate your opponents, control the game flow and deny your opponents. Decks full of counter cards would score high.
Combo - How well the cards in the decks go together, becoming exponentially more powerful with more pieces but weak individually.
Top Decking - How adverse the deck is when you're very low on cards and relying on drawing to keep you in the game. Decks with all round non conditional useful and diverse units/spells are ideal here.
If you want players to get a quick overview of a deck, how would you classify them with ratings on specifics strengths and weaknesses? Perhaps if could it be simplified so all Non Card game players can understand it easy.
Not sure if anyone will reply, but be nice to hear your thoughts.
No MTG experience, but played an other TCG (not naming it, you may guess). Some types come into my mind:
Flexibility: How flexible your deck is in matter of reacting to your opponents turn. Would add this instead of combo, because a combo factor is just a bad think. You shoudln't need to many cards for doing things. So a high combo factor is basicly a bad deck.
Speed: Would add this instead of Top Decking (but same description), in the community i was in Top Decking was the term you used when someone just turned the game by drawing one card. aka lucked like hell.
Strength: Add this one instead of "Beatdown", because it's a more generall term. Beatdown might not be understood by everyone.

Wait what?
Anyway! You could categorize the heroes from easy to hard. Ive seen game with heroes or champions use a difficulty bar to help new players better understand what they are getting into.

Control may stay. I would use those tags.
