My little project slowly coming to it's fruition. You remember my first map, Star Armada, it was my first published project ever, but i wasn't all satisfied, so instead of patching up, i decided to remake it from scratch, from bottom to top, and there is a lot of changes. Below is a video recording of a match just last night, Showing a battle between a mixed composition of teams, with experienced and new players alike, some what like pub game. The map by plans will made public on nov 12th, as a way to celebrate my birthday and also a more than a year long labour of love, which would not been possible for people who helped testing the map or more, directly contribute to making it with different assets.
Star Armada II
Right now the map is 2/3 done, Terrans and Protoss, and this two still evolves. Each Race will have 8 ships ingame in the following classes:
-Frontline Combat
-Tank
-Specialist
-Support
I always liked the idea of collision, and yes that means there is some 'bump car' gaming here. That means one can ram or block the escape of another, or if much larger simply shove it aside. Weapons and Projectiles more thought through, and just say, upgrading 'lasers' won't auto win the game for anyone. Like a Hero in a RPG, you gotta balance out your upgrades, as not all weapon the same effective vs different type of targets. Same for defence, not everything good against all kind of threats.
Zerg is in the making in full swing once more, 2 ships nearly done and 6 more to go, by hopes they would see the light of the battlefield by early new year, so who wanna quench their animalistic spaceship shredding needs, can do so too if remain patient a bit more.
Right now 3 Game modes are done:
-Normal ( 5 lives, normal money, destroy their base or reach kill score first )
-Deathmatch ( 1 life more money, quick duke out )
-Siege ( Attackers must quickly overwhelm the defenders, while defenders have to hold out for 45 mins under massive attack )
Here's the list of playable Ships, you might find the one you fall in love now.

I'm curious. The first Star Armada was clearly aimed at people who were familiar with Star Battle. It felt like "Star Battle with new stuff". Is SA2 going down the same route?

To answer yes and no. SA always been more "realistical" deeper then SB. That part, that two teams out to kill one another, you kill CPU units to get cash and upgrade at base, that part same. Beyond that the difference felt quite so, if watch vid, and see how much difference is between ship and ship. Just at Terrans:
Raven VS Dreadnought
4500 HP VS 22000HP
3 Armor VS 30 Armor
2.4 Speed VS 1.1 Speed
Forward Weapons VS Broadside Weapons
You won't see such striking scale difference in Starbattle at the start of the game between ship. You will have familiarity, but don't let that fool you, the devil is in the details as they say :)
Btw, anyone like to do Beta Testing, more then welcome, you can catch me on Star Armada II forums, Star Battle Forums, or ingame Star Armada II Channel, or Star Battle Channel.
Something you NOT wanna see :lol: but chances are you will if make it to late game, and or your Protoss base Killed :twisted:
The screenshot was made yesterday when had a special Test version uploaded, was working on Arbiter Quantum Warhead.
It is one spell i can see being banned from any tournament, and one reason alone. It is a gamble, a pure chaos, because it is. It's have a random effect, it can have a EMP detonation or it can have a Black Hole spawned as above, or it can spawn money crates for everyones grabbing. or it can spawn a Rough Wild raging leviathan, and the number of effects growing. This is the specific spell you fire and put your hands together, pray for all the deities out there be merciful ( or not ) :lol:
It is out, any feedback, i be more then happy hear toughs about the map. :)
Also will do a balance patch very soon as soon the NA server stable enough with WoW and all.
Now that the map is public i looking for individuals who would be interested. Mainly make translations for the text tutorials i wrote up thus far:

The workshop for translations being set up now and will be public so more than one person can look through it. And google translator will be used too to double check content before go into game ( if someone decide to troll )
This is an aid in place for those who wish to learn the game better, those who not check it out at all, like in any game, don't be surprised if they lost. Eon of Storms, Star Battle, Fleet Assault, or Empires of the Stormy seas, you need to have some learning before able to duke it out and not die every 5 sec ;)
An issue I noticed is that there is no description of what all the game modes mean. You should add somewhere (such as in the "how to play" part) what each game mode means as far as victory, defeat and playing goes.

I look into it now, as i making a patch for tonight Campaign Creations ( Hosted by Honejasi ) The game event will have the Leviathan in it's public vesion. As we speak i working on the final ability for this beast.
There be also Balance changes, and thanks to T3n3R we have some German Tutorial / Guide translated, hopefully more to follow.
