You know, if you get the game running fairly well you might have some luck in getting Husky to advertise your game like he did with a few other custom games. And this game used 2 b very popular on wc3, you know deep down inside that this game will b a big hit,but only if you let it.
"Popular"? I remember without TFT, this (at least was) an extremely popular map on RoC, it was good, well made, worked very well, didn't require TFT, and was fun. And if Husky doesn't advertise it, we should spam him until he does, or something, it deserves attention. It was great on RoC, I at one point saw a bot autohosting it on TFT (and I hosted it occasionally too) and even without updates (which is a shame you won't update it anymore) it'll probably last quite a while.

Sorry for the lack of updates, guys. Not really that much happened since last year and right now there is some reallife influence incoming. Family needed me, important exams soon and some friends of mine talked me into playing diablo 2 again :D.
I will definitely continue working on the map.
Advertising is not my biggest concern as of now. HLW RoC did have (and still has probably) a solid fanbase and I announced the SC2 project on the HLW RoC homepage, so many fans playing SC2 will probably know about the project already and at least try the map once it is released.
I had some problems getting my video recording software up and running again, however now it seems to be all set. You can expect some more small teaser videos soon.
Update as little as you like, as long as this means at laest once in a while and that the map is getting the attention you would be spending here. :)
The problem with putting a note up on the RoC page is that I doubt too many people look at the RoC page, which yeah is sad, (and sadder still that some info on the site was incorrect-like some of the creep details,) but hopefully some people who look can spread it around there. (Maybe I'll get my bot to autohost some HLW RoC, and have it say to look out for the SC2 map coming out. =D But I feel off topic now...and I've said all i wanted to say so far...so I guess I'll just post this and sound awkward when you read this line here....)

I'm not a Map creator, but a consumer of your products ;)
I belong to the WC3 HLW ROC fanbase and still play it a lot and I'm really excited about HLW on SC2.
I followed this post from it's first and day and since then i can't wait to get my hands on this map!
So, I hope you go along with this nice project and if you need one more Beta tester for your map, I'd love to help you to get near perfection ;)
greets marv
(Entschuldige mein Englisch, aber hier auf deutsch zu posten wäre glaube ich ein wenig dreist gewesen ;) )
I'm VERY excited for this project as well. I spend more time working on maps than playing them, but I'm dying for a quality custom map. Most of what's played right now is terrible, but I feel like this can raise the bar of expectations a bit.
Is there anything you need help with Keuken? I'd be quite happy to lend a hand, especially with data abilities. If you'd rather fly solo for now (or your team is big enough...not sure if you're solo or not for this project), consider me for beta testing :). You can see my data capabilities by checking out any of my youtube videos (username Wingednosering) or checking out my thread in the data assets forum (on this site).
Thought: For shrines if/when you put them in, perhaps instead of "shrine" they're some Xel'Naga thing.
And while I didn't mention it, I'd love to beta/give thoughts (well, I'm doing that now, aren't I?) but I'm no good at the SC2 editor. I'll probably fidget with it a while trying to figure stuff out, but I'm not much for coding, so I'll probably not figure much out each fidgeting session. (heh)

Thanks for all your support, guys. Seems I will have enough testers when I am finally able to test the map ;)
Sorry to keep you waiting for so long, but I am quite a perfectionist and don't want to publish a map full of bugs and unfinished stuff, even for testing. I hope the final result can live up to all of your expectations (would be hard, though xD)
Right now I am working on another hero, and I still have to fix a bunch of things (sometimes the editor seems to have a concious mind of its own with the ultimate goal of trying to blow mine -.-)

This sentence makes it sound like your making good progress. Is there an ETA? Maybe late March?
Well, on this one I like to agree with Blizzard: "Its done, when its done". I don't want to give a release date, also because I am working alone the progress of the map is directly connected to my motivation (which fluctuates greatly lately :D); and, like mentioned before, I have some important exams soon (throughout the march), so I will not have THAT much time.
Anyway, I uploaded a small video of another hero available: Alan Shezar
You will notice some of the available zerg mercenaries as well (pretty usual ones, like zerglings, roaches, hydralisks, but also some new mutations, like spore and spinecrawlers, which can root off-creep instantly to attack you, or overlords, which drop creep while moving and developed a tentacle attack).
Another thing: The Name of the map.
Currently, the name is just Hero Line Wars; this does not have to be the final name (but it could be, if you like it ;) )
Well, I could add some of the "usual" additions to the name, something like:
HLW: Apocalypse
HLW: Nemesis
HLW Reborn
You get the idea ;)
Another one I thought of was:
HLW: Koprulu Conflict
Or I could just leave the name, like it is now, plain Hero Line Wars or SC2 HLW or something.
Well, what do you guys think? Any suggestions/opinions?
Very nice. Does the artillery actually target units within tht range, or does it just it predetermined points?
Also, what model is that? It looks like maybe an Odin with some extra attachments aded to its shoulders and back? I might be totally off, but it didn't seem like a standard Thor or Odin in the video.
No real opinion on the name. I think that as long as 'Hero Line Wars' is in the title, people will play it.

It targets random points in the area

Anyway, i think Hero Line Wars would be best for the name :) That way you will be the one that will forever have THE Hero Line Wars, and anyone wanting to make their own HLW will need another name (Or subname like "HLW: Banana" or w/e)
Is CE Thor something you can put in editor? Or do you have CE too? =D
Anyway, loving what I see, but I'd prefer playing. :( Which is not to say rush it. And if you do Blizz's "It's done when it's done" please don't make us go "Hell, it's about time."

I don't have the CE, but its a model available in the editor just like any other model. Everyone can see a CE Thor, when someone has bought the CE, so it has to be present for the standard game as well.
I'd prefer "Kueken's Hero Line Wars: WoL". Because:
1. It refers to your name which is indeed THE indicator for HLW in Wc3
2. WoL = Wings of Liberty because it is the current "version" or "expansion" of the game. If Heart of the Swarm will be released, you could add some special Zerg Heroes and rename it to "Kueken's Hero Line Wars: HotS" and the same thing with Legacy of the Void. (It has been the same with Wc3, first it was just "Hero Line Wars", and later it has become "Hero Line Wars: RoC" cuz of the TFT version, which refers to the games current state)
I'd really love to see how your Original HLW for Sc2 Map will climb the "custom map ladder" ;)
So if someone has normal version, there's no way to give them CE Thor? Hmm. Shame.
Doesn't need the "Kueken's" part, since it gives the name of the publisher Lucifer. But HLW: WoL might work.
And if the map doesn't climb the ladder much, then we've got few HLW fans on SC2. Because...well...heh...
PS: Will the map be able to have AIs? The ability to set their difficulty? Anything like that at all? Or if there is AI support, they all act the same way, of course some differentiation for the different heroes, but still, would they act excruciatingly similar?

Not sure, what you mean. The model is available for everyone. Just in the normal ladder game, the CE thors are restricted to people buying the CE; in the editor or in custom maps, everyone can "get" them.

The name HLW: WoL has already been taken. However, as far as I know, the project was abandoned.

Implementing bots, especially challenging ones, is extremely difficult. I am sure I will try it at some point, but the first release will most likely not utilize bots.

Its the Collector's Edition version of the Thor.

HLW or HLW SC2.

A quick question about the heroes. They mostly all seem to be ranged. How many melee are you planning to start with? Maybe two less then ranged?
