i dont know why, but i think this wont be the last dota-project in this forum. :D (and even much more in the whole sc2-community xD)
well,... i just saw your terrain until now and meh. it could be better,... but you have got enough time to improve it! ;-)
problems: -always the same texture -> everything seems dark -doodads/foliage on creep! wtf? -i don't think it is good if you just copy everything; make your own content! ;-)

Yeah something i have noticed as well the trees and the grass make it difficult to see the units I'm making some changes to the textures, also someone posting something about the roads not being visible enough I'm going to fix that too.
I want the ability to LOS not lose the ability to see your char, I'm working on making the trees translucent when you walk by them. also im working with physics giving units the ability to jump or fly (with spells not like pressing the space bar in wow), slide and be generally mangled by spells or massive stuns.
you not even adding any criticizing value to the map you are arguing over arbitrary things like the word "original" Ive mad no comments agenst people who are providing info about the map, items ect... But you are criticizing my wording on the description of the map not the map it self. you are trolling just posting to be a jerk and providing no input on the map at all.
I'm not even argueing for his point dude I was defending you. I'm was saying this kind of attitude towards criticism, no matter how invalid, is completely unprofessional and stupid.
It's even funnier because you just called me a jerk and a troll after I defended you for the entire thread, because you apparently didn't even read what I wrote in context. If you're going to make a community project like DoTA, you might want to get better at interacting with a community kthxbye.

sorry lol it was a mis-quote i meant to quote the other guy

lol, its soke, but if someones saying shit that really bothers you and you don't even want to argue, just ignore him, or say something succinct along the lines of "thank you for your input but I disagree".
Hey, I am definitely interested in making larger scale maps. I am wondering if there is a place you learned all this stuff from, or was it brute forcing and trying different things out? I am new here +_-
Anyway, the map looks nice. Someone else already posted the possible visibility issue.. so yeah, can't wait to see this map come together over the next several months.

Yeah its a kind of shoot yourself in the foot and try again kind of experience. I'm excited for the Physics engine and to get working on spells, i just have to dredge through all the basics like units/creeps and building first, the basic map functionality, then i get into the fun stuff.
as far as learning the editor i use this site a lot, scroll through the forums, there is a lot of information here also the tutorials are helpful, its where i learned how to make a unit a hero, give him stats, exp, inventory.
also the official beta forums are a good place to look. if you need help with anything I have found myself pretty handy with the editor and cant wait to use its full potential. If you have used the WC3 or sc1 map editor there are a lot of similarities. are you starting new? what where you thinking of doing?
added some to my original post too, a update on things.
Stumbled across something really cool that im playing with, i cant test it yet but from the looks of it you will be able to configure the game modes through the game lobby with advanced settings (where the game speed is configured upon map making) this is Huge if it works, it has me all excited lol. im playing around with the variables but as i said because custom maps are not implemented yet i cant actually test it yet, but i'm almost 100% sure this will work.
LOCO (Land of Chaos Online) is a mmoTPRPG now being published by alaplaya.net.
Avalon Heroes is basically the same thing, in that sense.
The only difference is:
LOCO is anime based, third person perspective, WASD controls.
Avalon Heroes is more dota-like, RTS perspective, keyboard and mouse controls.
Apparantly, even mmos are copying the dota game style, and this will start to get old, because you see repetitiveness in the market...
This is why I'm starting to play only action rpgs, and not the linear slow paced mmos.
