There is a bug I found: When your zealots attack the opponents tower the enemy forces will go near them and NOT attack them. This is probably a pathing bug. Also the hero picking system : why don't you make it using custom UI? It will be great this way. I can help you with the custom UI.

I would have to say the direct copy is a little.. uninspired. However, I don't agree with the "these fantastical creatures aren't found in the SC-universe" thing. Godzilla isn't found in the SC-Universe. Starship Troopers aren't either. A lot of maps don't contain SC-Universe units. I do agree that SC-specific heroes would be a lot cooler as opposed to Storm Spirit [or whatever is in the video.]. I sucked at DOTA, although I did enjoy it a lot [when playing with people who also sucked.]. There were a lot of maps in SC1 that used fantasy-themed units. Example: Arcadia RPG, Ragnarok, Battle for Middle-Earth, any fantasy RP, etc..
I know that those maps exist, as well as many futuristic themed maps with WC3-Units. I didn't like them, but i accept that everybody has his own oppinion about such things. Also am i a great fan of DotA, playing many games a week, beeing in a clan, active @ Dota-League and so on. But i don't see the point of a full conversion. It's just the fact that i don't see the point of a full conversion. If you use DotAs names and icons and then use the space marine Storm Spirit or any other hero with Starcraft 2 Model your complete style is fucked. If you import WC3-Models (what isn't possible, as far as i know?) you still have SC2-Landscape, Doodads and so on. And i guess you will fast hit the 10MB-Limit. I don't see any problem with a project like this, it might even be fantasy-themed. But please try to stick to one style, which, in my opinion, must be the SC2-Style, because everything else will look shitty. Make Icons, Models and Landscape look all of a piece. So I suggest to make a map with the concept of DotA, but with SC2-Themed Heroes, Abilities, Items and Creeps. That map would feel and look professional.
These are the maps I'd join just to afk in the lobby for an hour so they go to 0 popularity.
We have Dota, we have HoN which has more features than you can possibly achieve in SC2 and for half the price. We also have LoL and that new Chinese one. We don't need more of them.

Ok, so you listed 4 games. How many RTS games are out there? Does that mean you are against RTS games? What about racing games? Guess we should stop making them too because they've already been made.
i just love how every map in this genre has the same terrain layout, and currently people like to use psionic storm and nuke for the 'show off' abilities. haha.... nothing new! but id have to play a map to decide if its fun or not. so well see! :)
Ok well i gave it a try, and the main problem i had was a error saying too many threads, then no more lvl ups, cash, creeps, game pretty much died. its cool and all (and absolutely no criticism intended, considering how early it is still, i think you done a freaking great job), but i was hoping for it to be more starcrafty, and i dont quite like the towers, though its creative, cant you just use more traditional towers, like the Protoss cannon and the spine crawler. like i know why you made the ghost sniper, but Psistorm on a marine is just a bit whack considering i would like it to be more starcrafty and not use war3 specs completely, but you know what you doing better than i do, so just make it good, dunno if anyone agrees with my views, but once the work gets down seriously and a bit of getting used to it, i Think it'll be awesome
My map is almost ready and I need people who can test my map in a closed beta test to find bugs. I created a blog dedicated to my map dotu.blog.com, where you can find lots of interesting information about the new chips, which will appear in version 1.0. I updated the main page of map on sc2mapster.com.
After several days of testing or may be week, I'll publish map into public on battle.net. You can sign up on beta test here. Beta testing will begin on August 15. I will contact you when I'm ready. I will not be home until the 15 th, so do not be surprised if I do not respond to your message.
