Wanted to participate too, but the editor suddenly requires another login to the battle.net and thats not possible :/
I will try to finish mine at the 27. ^^
Running out of ideas =( Guess its not as interesting as I thought it would be... (note the sound is a bit behind... fraps was fu..ing up)
i think it's cool. very unique. i say have a giant roach or ultralisk swim across the screen every once in a while that tries to chomp your critter.
and/or make it multiplayer and have the players' critters evolve. when they evolve they'll get bigger, get model additions, and better weapons. :D
i had spore for my iphone and the best part was the first level where you're swimming around eating everything.
I think that your game is actually much more unique than all of the other minigames that I've seen. I kinda gave up on making levels now. I managed to make 4 LAME games and a 5th interesting 1. But your Origins minigame looks amazing. I think if you added more difficulties, it would be excellent and more exciting. 1 example would be to make tougher and more challenging units on the map and to unlock new units as you gain more, whatever the DNA stands for, and some can fight back while others take longer to kill. You could also add upgrades. For example, if you add buttons on the right side, you can have different speed, damage, and health upgrades to help you hunt, kill, and protect yourself from your prey.
My entry is called Nuke the Speedling. As the name says, it's a dodge the nukes minigame. Up to 6 players nuke each other's speedlings while dodging the computer's nukes. It's really intended for multiplayer, but on hard and very hard modes you can test your survivability against the computer.
Be aware that the orange on the ground is the warning field for the nuke and does not damage you until the nuke lands
Quickly made this since I was camping most of the time during this contest, its a small minigame based off audiosurf/guitar-hero type mechanics with a simple idea, hit the colored blocks and dodge the black ones. Left and right mouse arrow for controls, nothing too fancy just the basic gameplay is implemented.
First of all i would like to say that this have been a awesome contest with alot of different submissions and tones of great ideas, and i have allready picked my favorite one to vote for.
So.. about Origins.
When i first started out this project i had really no idea where i was going, but as the visuals came along it was obvious to me that this game had to be my tribute to thatgamecompany for thoes mind blowing games they have created.
I was thrilled to see that thatgamecompany acturally featured my map on their homepage:
http://thatgamecompany.com/news/
And its with regret that due to time constraints i am unable to finish this map, not only for the deadline of this contest but most likely for quite some time.
So, as much as i would love to finish this project on my own i really hope that someone will take it up and finish what i have started.
Sadly im also unable to finish my grapichs library for now so i have cut out all the stuff i used in this map so you can see how i added things like filmgrain, vingetting and a super fluid underwater style camera (ready to copy/paste directly into your maps).
About the release.
This is release 3, its pretty stripped and does only contain 6 levels.
You only use 3 keys
A: Left
D: Right
Space: Sprint
The goal is to eat as much as you can and then eat the egg to get to the next level.
!!This map use extensive shading and should be played with a grapichs card with pixelshader 3.0+!!
Updated Version of my Archon X-ing
Could someone please make a youtube vid of this please?
My second entry:
Depot Snake
Play the classic game of snake right with Starcraft 2
- Movement Key: Control the Snake
- Eat apple to grow, the harder the difficulty, the more point you get
- Mineral = Current Score, Vespene = High Score
Caution: Apple spawning image might be disturbing to some players, play it at your own risk :)

Defend the crops man...
Finally my entry: Templar Carnage (I know, the name is utmost creative...)
Since I was very busy the last week I didn´t have much time to work on it, so it isn´t anything special^^
Couldn´t finish the multiplayer FFA, but you can play cooperative with up to 12 players.
(Took me 2 and a half hours to find programs to record and cut the video :/ still it has a very low quality)
And yes, I suck in this game xD
Greetings
