I laughed when I realized where a lot of those building sprites came from. It does look really good though, I like the blending of some 3d assets with the 2d.
@Bommes: Go I agree that would be a great solution. But you would need someone that can make those assets, or at least make "template" models that can be used with diferent textures.

Ever thought about using 3DS Max and the art tools to make 3D planes with animated textures linked to animations?
That should be about a thousand times faster than using triggers and you probably don't have to worry about performance at all with that method.
