I did fine against a 3 tank setup with 2 tanks and a healing wraith, sell both guns and go double heal from start with power diag. Move on to T2 fighter with more heals and finally get a battlecruiser for lots of healing and droney goodness, they could not kill those 2 heavy armored tanks even with 3 of them.
Ok but i thought fighters are for you know fighting stuff xD as healer most of the time you just stay behind your tanks healing the holy crap out of them so the weaknesses i was adressing (low health/not really microable against enemys with same weaponrange/less slots for stuff) by default dont matter that much.
It also further proves my point that tanks with healing capability in any form are pretty unstoppable atm (except by pure offensive tanks/mechs with cannons/mgs and all the dmg-inceasing stuff).
Im surprised this map is not at first position, or even top 5(before the reset). The number of views and replies in this thread is huge. The map itself is pretty fun, not perfect, but definitely better than Nexus wars. I wonder what is still holding Catalyst back?

I like to tell myself that it's too unintuitive and puts new players off. I must spend hours per week trying to find better/prettier ways to display things...
I also think it doesn't have enough explosions, but then I think that of everything so I'm unsure if the point is valid!
Ill be honest think about it like this. If you have to really search to find a map. Or you dont have to search to find another map thats fun. Which are you going to do? People are naturally lazy and will always go the easy route until they get board of doing it. Or motivated by any other means.
Blizzard needs to offer a map search filter otherwise certain maps will never get played.

Catalyst is on page 16 right now and has had it's popularity froze at 0. I'm unsure of the specifics as to why. Spam "Show more" until you get to the section with maps that have 0 games played per hour, and it's around there.

I'm going to continue working on the map just as I normally would. If this is going to be a regular fiasco then the last thing I'm going to do is start getting worked up over my map being kicked off page 1 every fortnight. I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt seeing my hundreds of hours of work brought down to nothing every second Tuesday, but I'm in this for the joy of creating things, nothing more.
make an "update". the map will be on first position if you check the "show new maps only" option. voila people will start playing.
but the whole system is bullshit indeed.
I dont play any customs atm. The system suckz so hard!

Is there any reason why its 3v3? Why not 5v5? technical reasons or for the gameplay? I would love it 5v5!

Are u working for a solution to make the game winable in lategame when the other team have advantage? If u lost one Tower in ur base its mostly lost complete, it just takes long loosing minutes!
maybe put the towers upstairs or make turteling strategies more effizient than now.

I'll see if i can get people to play it tommorow, organized. I'll ask my friend to get on, then get on the IRC and ask for other people to join in and hopefully boost it's popularity... If you wanna join in, i'll post tommorow when i'm ready. If i get enough people, i'll make it a mini tournament, and if it saves replays i'll probably even cast em for my channel.
I'm pretty sure it's a bug... Me and other people had few games on it (after scrolling down like 50 times to find the map) and it still show 0 games played last hour
Awesome map, very unfortunate that it seems to vanish all the time.
I also feel like the game is over once one of the landing towers is destroyed unless your enemy lets you snipe theirs without taking advantage of the lack of defending. Maybe make them less relevant to creep production? Have the middle spawn more creeps while at the same time decreasing the amount of creeps spawned by the tower. That, combined with the rebuildable defense turrets should allow the players to leave their base for a moment to push down the enemy landing tower, while sacrificing 500-1000 vespene to rebuild the turrets so destroying the landing tower in the first place isn't completely meaningless.
Also, is it a bug, that you can rebuild the enemies' turrets as your own? Currently, you can rebuild the turret just like you would rebuild your own and in turn, the tower attacks the enemies' units.
Post that on blizz official forums. These statements should go there.
People have been complaining about it since it was released in beta. They are working on it, and you know how fast they are...
I think a way better system would be to randomly sort maps, and leave popularity out completely. Makers of the map can check total number of games played and games/hour in the editor (to see whether the map is actually being played).
That way, a different map would always be on top. every few hours a couple of new maps from the bottom of the list are moved to the top (or everything is randomized again). So people to lazy to scroll will just pick whatever map is up, and if they like, they'll use the search function to find it again once the map isn't on the first few pages. Probably not a perfect system, but way better than only 30 maps being played in total...

if i remember right, SC2 was supposed to be out 2008...
Anyway, not to get off-topic here... I think i once saw 2 turrets spawn when i rebuilt turrets while the other turret slots at my base were occupied by my enemies turrets.
I figured I'd post here to make this thread 600 pages long. Still liking the map, still going, Eiv! Maps like these make me proud to be a member of the community.

so a great map became unplayable because blizzard cant get the system working.. thats really sad.

its not an expansion.. its an standalone version..
anyway you can build on enemy turret places. its no bug.
