You mean with modifying units, correct? Well we will need to recreate the SC1 tech tree and possibly create some unique units for the campaign. So yeah I will. I would suggest practicing your skills in other areas of the Editor ;)

We all are newbies to the editor. Yes if you've used the WC3 Editor you'll have a leg up above everyone else, the point still stands that this is a new tool that a lot of us still need to learn. Also do remember that SC2 isn't even out yet! PLENTY of time to learn.
Btw, the tutorial mission has hit v1.05 state (but it still needs stuff like a mission briefing, but we on the team haven't decided how we'll go about doing those). You can download it HERE. Major thanks to Alukard, who has done the majority of the work on this map. Also the first Terran mission has had work started on it (still needs a lot of work obviously); you can download it HERE. Major thanks again to Alukard on this map, who has done all the work on mission 1.
I do not think remaking units is required for old starcraft maps as old units will be added in a later galaxy editor.
However, if your doing it to learn or cant wait. Go ahead :)
@NamesAreUseless:
I'm not sure if you figured out how to check count of buildings.
In sc1 there was a trigger called Player Commands X of UnitType
Anyways in sc2 it does not exist by default
I remade it though it my lib. If download appears to bring up some page with a lot of text you may try doing a right click save as. (Lib is in the sig). I know the download works. Hope it helps. Lot easier than recoding it every time you need it.

Hey thanks for the lib file ilikeitontop. I will take a look at it.
Will you be including the Cerberus missions from the Starcraft 1 demo? I loved those missions.
Well our plan is to create Episodes 1-6, Loomings (precursor campaign), Enslavers 1 & 2, and the Stukov Missions. So to answer your question, yes ;)
Right now we're focusing on Episode I. Do keep in mind that we're kinda limited until the release of SC2 comes with many units like the Firebat, Wraith, etc. which will be imperative for this mod.
I'd be interested in helping you guys with this Starcraft 1 remake! I'm getting used to the whole idea of effects, actors and units etc and have experience with triggers.
Yes, but with Vespene and Minerals naturally in the game, along with most systems it'll be extremely easy to do with StarCraft II, plus the fact that most models are already there for us. It'll be much more fun than a crappy Warcraft III map.
Thanks, but we've already had the campaign sound files ready a month before sc2 release :] All neatly converted into ogg and categorized in the data editor.
Just wanted to say, I think it's a greaaaat idea to port StarCraft 1 to the Starcraft 2 engine/models... that being said, I know it's only in the early stages, but the maps (at 1.05 v) are really lacking artistic/aesthetic value. Look at Blizzard maps for SC2... hundreds, if not thousands of doodads. Just sayin.
EDIT: Matter of fact, terraining is probably my favorite part of the map making process, so I'm going to terrain a map from the original campaign, just cause I'm bored :)... hopefully one that isn't already in development. I'll pick one late in the Terran campaign.
I can help on the Triggers if you want. Also, just didnt read the other posts if anyone helped already, but you could set Variables to count for the amount of units owned.
I'm really interested in this project, but I have no idea how the editor works. I can test maps and give feedback for you guys. Oh and here's a Terran Campaign remake by Ultraling. He finished it but the editor broke a lot of things. I hope you guys can use this to get some ideas, use it as a base for your recreation, or fixing the bugs and releasing it so you can get on with the zerg campaign.

I'd say the terrain is very original to SC1, just need to polish it, and of course, fix the bugs. Good luck
Note: I also think that this campaign already contains the sound files for every mission if you want to use them.
I can do some testing and feedback, but I'm afraid I'm not much of a mapper as of right now :) still learning the very basics.

I'm not that good with the editor yet, and I do want to finish my SC1 campaign. However, I am willing to help if there's anything I can do. :) Sure.
Im interested in helping :D I was actually just working on making a firebat unit lol. I can help with maps and units.
I just noticed my SC1: Broodwar cd is MIA... Gotta search for it lol.

Here's Dark Swarm. It's in the map. You'll need the models, actors, spells, and effects, but it works.
Lost temple please also I did a test that harvesting rate needs to be changed to 1.01 with four workers. Hope this helps.

The SC1 Remake team now has a homepage and a new name for our project:
Starcraft: Reborn, check it out!
Ive seen this been done so many times with Warcraft III

If someone wants to help, they can figure out this bug (or tell me what I'm doing wrong):
http://forums.sc2mapster.com/mapping-utilities/editor-bugs-and-feedback/6167-bug-imported-files-from-a-dependency/
Without that working, we'll basically have to include all the necessary sound files into each sc2map file... and that wont be pretty.
And before anyone asks: no, this mod is not dead.

How can I use those sounds in game? What do I need to play them? They don't open properly in Windows Media Player or Live Movie Maker...
