I'm new to this whole modding community. I never played WC3, but played some SC1. I had no idea the amount of fan-made material that was created for WC3 and SC1. I recently stumbled upon Campaign Creations and noticed they have a lot of old SC mods/campaigns. I really want to create my own campaign somewhat loosely attached to the lore, but the jumping off point is pretty scary and I just need practice. I got to thinking that newbie modders could take an old mod/campaign and recreate it into SC2 engine in the vein of the awesome SC1: Mass Recall. I would think a small episode campaign would be ideal...maybe 4 or 5 missions...more of this will be fleshed out if there is interest.
Any ideas on what could be recreated in the SC2 engine?
Perhaps this is already happening??
Anybody new to the community who wants to get down and dirty into the editor or old folks who want to help us along?
I don't know about any official campaign that hasn' been recreated yet (Stukov, Enslavers1,2, SC, BW, Precursor). They already have their remakes. If I had made an SC1 campaign and someone remade it for SC2 I sure wouldn't be happy about it; permission should be asked at least. Most of the time the remakers take way too much credit.
Make the campaign so YOU are the one who likes playing it. Or...
Do what I've been doing for the past 10 years. Take a book/story/comic that is based on actual SC-lore andf figure out how to recreate its story in a campaign. You will have less work with working out a storyline and ideas for missions that way, and the community will love you for it.
Make sure you take your time with each map. Study maps by Blizzard, triggering and terraining to see what separates them from amateur maps.
And btw... working with others may actually prove to be harder than working alone. Especially inexperienced people. You tend to disagree and rely on one another too often...
Is there a page on Mapster that has all the official remakes of the campaigns? I stumbled upon this site and well just wish I had known about it 2 years ago when I first got WoL. I ate up the Mass Recall because of Husky and have only been recently learning about other Remakes and Fan-made campaigns like Graidus' Subjection.
Permission would for sure be attained before any remake would be made. I just thought it would be an interesting way to get newbies, like myself, involved in learning the editor. It did occur to me that working over the Internet to remake a mod would be quite difficult, but working alone on this stuff can be pretty alienating and having a deadline is key to pushing things through.

Thanks for the advice.
