I'm trying to put together stuff for a fansite(lol) to build up our flash section. I've extracted all the spell icons and the border frames that I planned on using, but I'm having trouble recreating the exact effect that is used in SC2.
So far, I'm basically running the following:
1) Extract btn-border-ability.dds (or just grab the .tga)
2) Duplicate the background (of the border), hide the original background
3) Use channel mixers to convert to monochrome with an emphasis on green to maintain highlighting for the border
4) Add a color fill layer as the top layer, blending mode set to Overlay
5) Convert border layer blending mode to Linear Dodge (add)
6) Throw in the spell icon
What it looks like:
What it should look like (ignore the 1, also the color isn't a concern, just the blending/contrast of the actual icon):
If it helps, I can attach a psd. I doubt many people will need this sort of thing but I figured why not~
