I just saw THOR (yes, the movie) for like the third time, I particulary like these kind of movies because they inspire me to do models.
So here you go, inspired by the rainbow bridge from Asgard, the Bifröst from norse mythology.
This is also the first model I've released without it being a request :)
The model's pretty simple, it's just a cube with some missing faces but it comes to life with the textures, I hope you guys find a use for it and enjoy it. Would make an awesome terrain object so you could walk over it.
I think the main reason a terrainer would like to use this model is because of one simple reason - your bridge is flat and a square. Right now it's quite hard to make normal bridges work well, but you could easily put down this one and make it easy to work as a terrain object. You could add a rail as wanted.
Also, what does that mean exactly? Do terrainers fear more complex shapes for any reason? Cause having complex terrain objects is as easy as having simple ones, the only reason I'd see why it is harder to have a more intense geometry like curves or so is when making actual footprints for the model so you just don't "fall" of the model. I've done a lot of real complex stuff with terrain objects and models, though:
And this scene which takes the entire map (AND MORE!) this also wasn't modeled by me but by IskatuMesk
No, not necissarily, but mainly because of bridges - if you place some of the standard bridges and want them walkable, you need to do a lot of weird stuff to make sure players can't walk on the edges or such. With a plain squaric bridge there's no such problem. You make the bridge the size of 3 or 4 blocks exactly (like you want it) and just make those blocks walkable. Problem solved.
I haven't seen the movie Thor but I do read the comics and watch some of the shows they put out and I also read a bit of mythology. The bridge should be rainbow colored shouldn't it?
Yeah well, if you see the mythological images it's like literally a rainbow :P
I think that's pretty dumb and completely unabstract so I made my version of the more discreet bridge in the movie, the one in the movie was really colourful/goldish but not so extravagant like being a literal rainbow.
But yeah, it's supposed to have way more colour that SC2 does a pretty good job at killing it when the transparency was applied :P

Nice work :)
Thanks ^^
