A quick question: How do you create wireframes efficiently? Of course, you don't draw them from scratch, you make a screenshot from the unit and then do some steps to get your wireframe, right? What exactly do you need to do?
I tried this once, by doing it something like this:
screenshot of the unit with a black background for easy separation
saturation -> zero to remove colors
replaced black with transparency, so only a white, wireframe-like picture remained
But it didn't look right ingame. Also, how to easily get the 3 shield wireframe pictures?
Also, how to make the zerg-style wireframes? The same way, just colored in a specific color?
@Kueken531: Go Well, I use the model previewer, get a picture with that teal background. Using photoshop I use magic wand to select the background. Invert the selection so the model is now selected, create a new layer via copy, so now you have the model with no background, this way you don't need to add alpha to it later. Desaturate it, then work with brightness and contrast to get it looking like standard wireframes. Then using Blending options I add an outer white stroke to it (execept for zerg), most units use a 1pixel or 2pixels wide stroke. And you're done, save it as DDS.
If you really want to make it perfect, you can use a 1pixel brush to draw the lines some wireframes have, that separate the "parts", like I did with those Battlecruiser wireframes, but it's not necessary.
EDIT: to get the 3 shield wireframes just do what Blizzard did :-) Because my method gets the exactly same effect. Get your wireframe and give it an outer white stroke 2pixels wide. Give it a black background and a black color overlay (blending options in photoshop). This way you get the first shield layer. Flatten it and move it to your alpha, save it. To get the other 2 layers you merge your stroke with your original wireframe ans then repeat the process, this time its a very light gray stroke. Last layer you merge it again and create one more stroke.
Damn, it would be easier to understand on a video tutorial. I guess I'l make one ;-)

I think I got it anyway, thanks :) I use Gimp and not Photoshop, though, so the options are a little different, but I will figure it out.
Also, I just tried a slightly different method, which seems to work reasonably well, as well: You can send a "Halo Start" actor message to the actor before making a screenshot (this probably doesn't work in the model previewer, but it doesn't show attachments anyway, so I cannot use it) then you got the white border in the screenshot from the start :)
Attached the test, it shows a terran-style wireframe for my entry for the creature contest. Looks okay for me :)
Still, I don't know, how to make it "zerg-colored", just colorizing it doesn't seem to do the trick.
@Kueken531: Go Yeah, Zerg is harder, I dont use colors, I just mess with brightness and contrast. But I'm still not satisfied with my zerg wireframe results.
Hi. Could one of you do a Xel'Naga Tower unit icon and shield wireframe please? These aren't in the editor nor are they on SC2Mapster from what I have seen @,@ .
@TheHolyArk: Go I was going to create the icon and upload it right there with the wireframes, but then I went back to some icons I'm working on and forgot about it. :P I'll work on it and attach it here later.
I humbly request shield outline wireframe .dds files for the firebat, reaper and zerg aberration..... thanks! if this gets done please send me a PM too if you don't mind. Really appreciate it.
can anyone turn this into a .dds icon for me? thx! oh and can you make an icon from the zergling icon for like a squad. like more than one zerglinh in the picture. that oneguy did it with marines. ? thx!!!!!
I got a request for a model for my main character of my campaign. His name is Risker, In his final phase, he is Zeratul with Reaper Wings. He also wields a Marine's gun.
Thank you very much! =)
I'll rename it, or just use it as it is, none will see the file name ingame after all ;)

@joey101d:
Do you want a squared version of the Samwise Zergling or just that picture?
I use these two skins in my map; a golden stalker and a golden void ray:
http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/dark-protoss/files/47-templar-stalker/
http://www.sc2mapster.com/assets/dark-protoss/files/11-warp-ray/
I wonder if someone can change the ordinary SC2 stalker + void ray buttons to fit the skins. Or make complete new ones :)
