I had this idea when working on a wallpaper for me (see attached picture, you can use it as a wallpaper if you want). I'm still not totally sure about it, but the idea is to include fun content in "standard melee" maps. I've already had several ideas and I'll share some with you, and I hope the SC2Mapster community will help me.
1- Fun loading screen tooltips: Instead of good advice, let's throw some jokes, or maybe hints to cheesy strategies.
2- Multiplayer cheats: Yeah! multiplayer "cheats" ta do useless stuff or maybe crazy things that can be both usefull and dangerous at the same time.
3- Fun changes: I'll change names and descriptions to include community jokes and other fun ideas. Here are some:
-Ghost's Sniper Round -> Flame Thread: Flames the target for all things you dislike, dealing 45 damage, ignores good criticism (I've already created an ability icon with Dustin Browder's face on it).
-Vortex -> Popularity Vortex: Creates a Popularity System that sucks all custom content in the area. Maps within this system are unheard of. Lasts until the day they finally replace it.
4- Scrapped stuff: I'll include reference to scrapped units, structures, and abilities. Players will be able to see the buttons but they will be gray and some fun explanation to why they're not avaiable will be given like: "sorry, all of our Khaydarin Amulets were sold, come back later". The list includes: Reavers, Lurkers and Lurker Dens, Soul Hunter, Planet Cracker, Khaydarin Amulet, Starbase, Predator (the air unit), Stasis Orb/Void Star (Those beta names are confusing), and others.
5- Rage Quit bonuses: I want to create game effects for famous aspects of SC2, like rage quit, and the GG message. I don't know what to do with them yet, but I'm sure some good ideas will show up.
For the Rage Quit idea - When the CPU wants to surrender, have it instantly surrender, and send the message "*Rage Quits*" or "Computer # has rage quit." You could also have it so that a message/hint on the loadscreen says "Press Alt + F4 to rage quit." Or even, if the player has lost x amount of units in y time, have a message pop up that says "Go ahead, n00b, rage quit!" or "Why don't you rage quit, you n00b?".
For the Scrapped Stuff - I have a few ideas. Such as:
Lurker & Lurker Den: "Requires: Heart of the Swarm expansion pack."
Predator: "Too late. This unit's been removed!"
Stasis Orb: "Just build a damn Sentry instead!"
Protis Sniper: "There's no such thing as a proti-"
Starbase: "Are you kidding me? This thing is way too OP! No way we'll let you do that."
Reaver: "Removed because the Colossus is the same thing."
Soil Hunter: "This is not the Soul Hunter"
Dark Archon: "Requires: Buy DLC"
Planet Cracker: "You really thought you could get to play with a useful Mothership? Yeah, right."
